I changed out one of the preamp tubes, and put in a NOS Sylvania JHS 12ax7 Black Plate It uped the input and is very crisp and clean as a whistle, and also sounds great...!!! S

The amp has NOS tubes, Sylvania Black Plate JAN 6V6 GTA, and the two Preamp tubes, one is Made in Germany, The other is made in Gt. Britain. I think they sound wonderful!! I had a set of JJ 6V6s in it but they sounded a little harsh,... Brittle and piercing/ These Sylvanias are warm and full...

By the way, this was recorded using a BLUE 'Yeti' USB mic and a real tube guitar amp I built from a kit, and effects from a DOD multi pedal. I think it came out OK, but I continue to refine and clean up the sound. New recording coming soon, and I am learning how to add more tracks.... S

Thanks for the feedback,... I have been playing that for like 2 hours at a time, trying to clean it up, and make it the same every time. The wife saysafter 10 minutes I should just stop...... The trick to getting anything down is over and over and over........right? S

Just have to cut the transformer holes into the chassis, then install them, then finish soldering the turret board in, and tube it up for a test. Already have a couple of small cabs ready to go... have wanted to finish one I started quite a while ago, so I can hear what it sounds like.....:)

Yeah I haven't really pushed this stuff cause I problywill never be able to afford this high quality again, I have had both for a very long time I am 72, and yes both units worked when I stopped using them, just got busy actually earning a living and 60-80 hour weeks do not allow much 'foolin...

If ANY old electronics has not been powered up in like 20 years, plugging it in and turning it on can fry parts.... After that long, gravity will cause oils and waxes ,which were used in some old amp capacitors they could fail and send damaging voltages to other parts of the amp. Nice little...
