For some reason, I can 't get any signal through my digital output on my SBLive card. My setup is A Roland VS1680 to SBLive Drive. The digital in works fine, and the output has worked before. All I know is the sample rates are correct. Any ideas?
Yeah, I do the whiser thing alot when I want a slow and eiree sound. I usually copress the hell out f the whipser track...like you would for a radio broadcast...then use some extreme eq/filtering to cut the lows out.....go for as much high end you can get without it sounding too glassy, and...
I like to record 1 track, right up the midle, and then I usually bring out the high end a bit, and go real easy on verb or delay (if any at all). Then, I record an overbud, but send it to 2 tracks hard left and right. This stereo track usually contains the bulk of the effect....only problem I...
I'm always messing around with it, I just haven't been able to find a happy medium with making it clear but ambient. I'll definatily keep working with it though.
Both, but I guess tracking mainly. I'm trying to figure out if it is all one track, or two different tracks (one up the middle, one copied to a stereo track). CAuse if I try one way, it sounds bad and makes me think the other way will; work. I guess what I'msaying is I can't seem to find a...
I have picked up on a professionally used technique with I think sounds really cool, and would fit the voice I am recording quite well (I think). Only problem is, I can't figure out how it is done exactly. Here;s what it is: (for the lead vocal track). It sounds like there is a track...
At the risk of sounding stupid, which is tighter supercardoid or hypercardoid?
Also, I read i a catologe that the SM Beta 57 has a bass roll off pad to eliminate the proximity effect. Is this true, or just a misprint? What is the difference between the 57 and beta 57?
Yeah man, you should definatily look into an amp simulator of some type. Warning: Some amp sims sound incredible, while others are aweful. Don't be turned off if you try out a bad one. The only thing you will have trouble with recording direct is getting the picking sound, which is ususlly...
As an experienced vocalist who often gigs with no sound guy, I haave gotten in the habbet of controlling all my vocal effects myself. I manually adjust delay times from song to song (cause I'm anal) and add a little flange and distortion now and again. I wish that someone would make a...
Thanks so much for all the info. I realize that rec. in general is an art, but I don't think that I would have ever though to double mic the kick drum. Using Sonusman's methode I can pretty much eq the kick using the mic placement and mix only. Putting the mics far away from the drums is also...
I'm not new to recording...just always programed drums before. Anyway, I wanted to get some sugestions on which mic to use on what drum. Going for a heavy sounding kit. Here's what I got:
5 piece kit (Tama Rockstar)
(nothing fancy with cymba0ls)
1 At4033 consendor
1 Shure sm849 sm. diafram...
I haven't been able to find any VoFX units, and the Votec which is the only other option is according to what I've heard horrible for gigs, and gets tererible feedback.
Well, this kinda sux, cause I need a processor, and I really think I could get use out of this Pixillator thing, but I wanna use it for gigs as well, but I'm afraid DOD's stuff will give me nothing but feedback. I was actually thinking of getting one of those floorboards and using the thing for...
It''s not a hit or miss thing, its just that I think the diameter of some tips fit better into my basses than others, cause the same exact chords work flawlessly with my two gibson guitards. Also, I;ve had the same problem on 2 different basses, and on one of the basses I put in a set of EMG...
