    At4022

I've have a pair of 4021's that I really like on acoustic guitar. I've often wondered how the omni version performs.

We've Got A New "King Of The Low End" LDC...

Harvey, I'm anxious to hear your comments on the 2003a! I have always liked your down-to-earth descriptions of how mic's sound and perform. I will probably never own a real expensive mic (I just can't justify the price at my skill level) so, your good reviews of less expensive mics are always...

SM57 or SM58? There can be only 1!

If I couldn't have both, I'd grab an SM 57.

Best microphone for recording vocals/dialogue for under 100$?

If I only had $100 or less to spend on a mic, there is no question; I'd buy a Shure SM57. Slap a $20 windscreen on the mic and it makes a great vox mic (it is a favorite for my raspy, unrefined voice). Put it on the 12th fret of an acoustic guitar and record to your heart's content. Stick it...

    Audio Technica must have's

AT4021, or better yet, a pair. They are great for recording acoustic guitar and are a relatively neutral mic with just a hint of warmth.

    4 way mic shootout.

Nice playing!! I really liked #3. The lows/midrange pop'd nicely to the front and the highs had a nice shimmer to them. Other than the mic pre, I'm sure you will let us know what equipment was used.

    AT4041s v AT4051as

You may also want to take a look at the AT4021. They have recently come down in price just a bit and I picked up a pair. So far, I'm happy with the results I'm getting but, I'm still experimenting. IMHO, Audio Technica makes a quality mic for the price.

How will you be using the mic...voice, acoustic guitar, amp cab etc. and will it be for live use or remote/studio recording?

need buying a condenser bright sound mic , any suggetsion please?????

AT4040 is usually described as neutral, but I don't think I'd call my 4040 bright. Some like it on vox but, I like the 4040 best on acoustic guitar.

    sm57 pop filter?

I've always liked the SM57 on my voice and on a whim, I just bought the Shure aftermarket Windscreen. I put it on this evening and gave it a try. It really seems to add a bit of warmth to the mic and tones down the p'losives just a bit. I think I'll keep her on since I don't use it for...

    Echo Audiofire 8 + Sm7b?

I own an Echo AudioFire 8 but not an SM7B. I can tell you that I have been extremely pleased with this interface for the past 3 years. What I really like about it is that Echo has done a great job with the drivers and firmware. I've had it connected to 2 PC's one running XP and and another...

With what gear did you make your 1st recording?

1965 - a really cheap reel to reel (can't remember what brand) that, as I recall never made it through a complete recording without problems. 1969-70 - Akai Reel to Reel that my buddy's brother brought back from service in Viet Nam. We recorded in his bathroom and convinced ourselves that it...

AT 4040 Vs. Studio Projects C1

I've not tried the SP C1 so I can't comment but, I do own the AT 4040. Although I'm not crazy about the mic for my raspy, unrefined voice, I do love it on acoustic guitar. It is a fairly neutral mic and not bright at all to my ear. Others may find it great on Vox but, it doesn't work well on...

Acoustic guitar dilemma, any good solutions?

I'm not sure what kind of DAW/hardware you are using to track your recording but, I would suggest that you record your track as you have done. Then, copy the track to a second track panning one right and one left. I'd also EQ one of the tracks to add a bit of bass and compression to mimic a...
