alright thanks guys. i think the eq i had on the guitars was ruining them but they sound much more real now. and we're gonna retrack the vocals today because no one likes them still, and hopefully we can get them spot on. and yes there is bass in the song we just don't want it to be too bass...
alright thanks a lot for the answer and i think i got it a little bit better now. i kinda just erased what i had and tried to start over from scratch and use as little eq and effects as i could. and i think i'm headed in the right direction so far.
here's the new mix i have now...
hey guys thanks for all the feedback.
i have been taking all your comments and trying to fix the mix with what you're saying and i have a couple questions:
1. everyone keeps saying the guitars are too thin, but i'm not sure if you mean there's just not enough low frequencies because i did a...
Hey guys,
I recorded this song in my basement with my band over the past week and I put a ton of effort into it. So if you guys could help me out and give me any info about what I could do to improve it or anything I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance,
Nick
By the way the song is...
Hey guys,

First of all its a CAD CM217. And i know it's the mic because i have a pair of them and the first mic works but the second doesnt. I switched all the cables and inputs between the mics and still only the first one worked, not the second. Therefore, it has to be the mic that's broken.
So yesterday I was recording drums with my brand new CAD Condensor mics as overheads, and halfway through the track... one of them just stopped working?!
I tried to fix it and unplugged it and plugged it back in, and it worked for a couple seconds, but then stopped working again. It did this...
hey chibi nappa thanks for that post that really helped me out. the point about testing the compressor/limiter definitely helped me out because i was only increasing the volume before you said that, but now i figured out exactly what you're talking about. and we're taking down everything in...
alright so i read a million articles on compression last night and i'm starting to understand what it does. I also put it on my guitar tracks and it definitely got them to where i want them to be in the mix. I think the overall loudness was definitely one of the problems when I was listening...
i did what you said about taking out the vocals and the rest of the music does sound closer, but it still is not sounding as close as i want it to. Lowering the vocal track did help a really lot though; it's definitely way closer to how i want it after doing that.
and i know you say not to use...
i have never used one before but i just downloaded a multi band compressor and used that on my newest recording to master. is that the same thing as a peak limiter?
hey thanks everybody for all the help and feedback i really appreciate it all a lot! I'm gonna try all of your suggestions and especially try lowering the vocal track to make it fit with the rest of the mix. And about the studio idea, we all really want to try to get to one but we're all very...
so i just recently had my computer's hard drive crash and hence i have no more music files on it. However, at my band's myspace here there is all of our music. And if you listen to the last song called Flatlined you'll hear what I am trying to explain. Thanks for all the help guys! :)
