Don't know what YOU mean with Pretty nasty sounding stuff but I think I agree. Huge differences in level between two signals can sound acceptable on headphones, but won't on monitors.

Do go for an interface, computer soundcards aren't built for your purpose. And remember: omly salmons swimm upstream.

Assuming monitorspeaker are neutral and linear. Assuming home speakers aren't. Why mix on monitors?
