Leave the computer out of this for the time being. Instead, get a standard midi cable and figure out the sequencer that the SQ-80 has onboard.
This way you'll get familliar with the basics of sequencing by working just with midi. If you like it and feel you're ready for the next step, google...
Yeah --- I second the Anatek pocket sync, or some other device that prints audio and converts it to midi clock.
The only problem is that I own one of those Tascam DP008's and the limited number of inputs (2) and outputs (also 2) might be a limitation. But midi is all about working around...
Sure it's possible!
The secret is getting the footpedal to issue commands that Cubase understands.
This can be done either by changing what the footswitch is sending or changing what Cubase is listening for.
Either way, you will find the free MidiOx app very useful. It's here: MIDIOX. It's...
"I'm not sure messing with ASIO will do anything whatsoever - it's the audio system component - and as MIDI is data, I don't think anything you do with your ASIO settings will change the MIDI processing - with my 8x8, I have no MIDI delay I can detect. Drivers are the usual culprit of delays...
You have probably loaded some kind of virtual instrument in FL. Do the same in Reaper. There in a menu called 'Insert' which has an option to 'Load virtual intstrument into track'. You just need to specify the folder for Reaper to pull virtual instruments from under the 'Options' menu. Then...
I agree w/Gecko Zed, but as you have already discovered Audition doesn't support MIDI. I recommend what I use, which is Reaper. It has a 60 day free trial period so if you download it and don't like it you're not obligated. If you want to import tracks and play along with them you can do it...
I've read your post carefully several times, and I can spot two places where I think you've gone wrong.
First, you don't need to select anything from the functon menu. It should default to the appropriate setting which may be 'in' or 'out' depending on how Alesis uses the terms.
Choosing Q20...
@Ryan - your interface, like mine, probably has both a preamp and a plain line-in for inputs.
My advice is to see what sounds best and to go with that and not worry about it anymore. Unless you get screaming feedback or seriously degraded sound, you're probably doing more or less the right...
I couln't make music wtthout Sylenth, so I feel your pain. You've done everything I would do and more to solve the problem. My only suggestion would be since Cubase uses dongle protection it may be seeing your legit copy of Sylenth as a bootleg in some way, and is freezing your system to prevent...
Ths may be off topic, but I think Tone2 did the VSTi world an unexpected favor by setting Firebird free. It's a synth that I had in my arsenal but it never got much use until they brought it to my attention by making it free. Now I've had a chance to take another look at it I'm into it, it's...
@ Jalt4 - First, don't listen to anything 'rob aylestone' has to say. He's clueless, and will lead you astray as he has several others in the past months. Audacity is an audio-only program and has no 'boxes to uncheck' realating to midi anywhere.
Second, you have a basic misunderstanding of the...
Wrong, Rob. MIDI runs @ 31.2 kilobaud per second which is more than enough to 'do decimal points'. Why do you insist on chiming in on threads, then dispensing wrong or useless information? Leave the MIDI answers to those who REALLY know what they're talking about, because there's enough...
