I have a midi studio, so everything I record is sequenced and comes from some kind of sound module (roland JV-2050 primarily). I've noticed that the mixed I produce and then transfer to my ipod are significantly duller than commercial recordings. I realize I can't create the kind of "energy"...
Has anyone ever used vari-pitch on a VS-series mixer? I want to include an effect on a song that would have been simple on tape: slowing the whole thing down then speeding it back up to normal speed.
Is there a way to use vari-pitch to record this slow down, or is there a different way?
I recently upgraded from 3 linked VS-880's to a VS-2480CD. I really like the sound quality, although in some respects the VS-880 was easier to navigate. (I use the LCD panel instead of the built-in display, but the manual references only the built-in display and on-board buttons)
My question...
I want my sampled guitar chords to sound as real as possible. As a keyboardist, I can arrange the notes in a chord any way I want. But I realize that because of a 6-string limit, guitar chords are pretty structured and consistent.
Does anyone know where I can get a chart or something that...
I've already got a decent keyboard controller and sound modules, I'm not looking to shell out several thousands of dollars for a new multi-function piece of equipment.
I do, however, desparately need a decent piano sample on a keyboard with weighted keys. Right now, I'm looking at both the...
Ok, experts. Up to now, I've been doing everything on my Roland V-studios. I've only introduced the computer at the end, to burn the discs. I'm looking at buying a new computer, and want to move as much to the PC as possible.
My question is: what do I need? For example, is Pro-Tools the...
I just bought a unit off ebay but the guy doesn't have the manual. TC Electronics has taken the link off their web page because the product is discontinued, and they haven't responded to my email in over a week.
Does anyone have a manual, preferably in PDF format, that I can get my hands on...
Buying a new compressor isn't an option, and a pc-based compressor isn't in the cards right now. I need to get this project out before Thanksgiving and have 11 tracks to master, or as much "mastering" as I can do. (which basically for me amounts to some EQ correction and bringing up the...
For my purposes, I've generally relied on memory and track sheets to find out what's on what track. Now that my mixing has become more complicated, I'm looking to start using write strips on the mixer, but am unsure what the best things to use is. Is there actually studio write strips that can...
I write soley instrumental music, a lot of it having some kind of orchestrations. As I don't have access to a 20-piece orchestra, I have to use sampled strings. Unfortunately, making them sound good after they've been recorded is no easy feat. For greater mixing flexibility, I sometimes...
I'm thinking of trading up from my JV-2080 to an XV-5080, primarily to get the reportedly fantastic concert piano expansion card.
Anyone got a 5080 with the concert piano card? What are your thoughts? How does it sound compared to other dedicated piano samplers?
First time on the board, please be patient. I've got a home rig (3 VS-880's, Ensoniq ASR-10, Roland D-10, Roland JV-2080, E-mu Vintage Keys, Aphex 104, Behringer Composer Pro, dbx 48-point patch bay, connected to a PC running Cakewalk). Before I added the Behringer to my rig, I didn't really...
