I am tired of draging my laptop around to gigs. I just purchased a 2U rack from rackmountmaster.com and plan on building a rack PC:) Found and ASUS P5 motherboard and going with 4gigs of DDR2 corsair mem., 3.0ghz P4 with HT, two SATA 120gig drives. The rack only allows for 3 PCI Express slots...

Ok...I know it works with the PCI card connected and your computer running, but just using the rack unit....can I use the TDIF interface on my DDX3216 to connect to the MOTU...and convert it to the TRS analog channel inputs to basically expand the board for more channels??? I'm hoping that the...

Yep...got that coverd...the converter has AES/BEU 25pin connection to go to the 4 I/O AES XLRs. Thanks

Your right...only assigned to channels 13 and 14:( Well..I'm going to get a AES/BEU card and snag a coverter to ADAT and use the ADA8000 8ch interface. I'll forget about the TDIF. Atleast until I can get an RME ADI 8 after I'm familiar with the whole process. Thanks for all the help :D

So your tellin' me that the digital I/O signal representing each channel coming off each of the 8 individual 1/4 TRS plugs on that cable can't be converted to analog via a DA/AD converter with (8) 1/4 TRS in's and out's???? I'm trying to figure out why that signal is any different from say SPDIF...

I'm a noob to the whole recording and Live sound thing....and yes I have to start somewhere. I have some great poweramps (QSC RMX series) although heavy as hell and the best hit for the money. A few 1802 subs and 1588's from carvin...yes budget...but does the job. Oh yeah...and behringer stuff...
