    Recording synths

The Akai MPK49 is a good controller, nice feel, finish and plenty of faders, knobs and even the Akai MPD Midi trigger pads. Combine this with a Nord Lead Rack and you're looking at a very nice set-up in my opinion.

Hi, In the new Death Cab For Cutie video, there is a small white synth/keyboard sitting on top of the piano... does anyone know what it is? I don't recognise it at all... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq-yP7mb8UE - the video is on youtube and you can see it best at 5:53 mins in. does anyone...

    Ez Drummer and Cubase Problem??

Hey, I have EZ Drummer 2.0 and used to use it in Cubase SX2, where I would make EZ Drummer Multichannel, and assign my midi keyboard faders to each mic in EZ Drummers mixer so I could manually mix the volume of say the snare mic, room mic etc. (hope you are still with me!) After upgrading to...

Hey, I have Cubase SX2 running on my PC using my Microkorg as my controller through my Audiophile 2496 card. I can record a midi track and I have midi input on the track input meter yet I have no sound outputfrom my VST instruments? I have my 'input' selected as all midi inputs and 'out' as...

    DVD playback issues with soundcard...!

Hey, I have an M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 card, but until I recently bought some monitors I had been using the card purely for recording in and using the motherboard soundcard for playback on my desktop speakers, now that I have monitors I am using it for playback also, but now when I play...

Can organ-like sounds be created with a MicroKorg?

Sorry for not specifying... Yes the Hammond sound is what I'm looking for, also something like a 'Farfisa' sound. I see... maybe I'll have to stick to soft organs then for now.

Can organ-like sounds be created with a MicroKorg?

Okay thankyou both for the advice... As I'm not too sure of the variations can either of you give me an overview of the various types of synths and their pros/cons and preffered uses. I'm looking for something versatile, to create organ sounds, basses and pads mainly. I have a budget of £350...

need help/info on which studio monitors i should use

I'm also looking for my first set of monitors and so went to my local Pro Audio shop and they technician there told me that the Fostex PM04's are the best around for their price. He said (apparently) that they supply or design the parts for all the other lower end monitors or something like...

    What's a step up from the SM58?

This link http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jun00/articles/akgc2000.htm gives a review of the mic and how it sounds on vocals. Think it was only £100 when i got it. I also have an AT3035 which i have used on vocals but I think it lacks a warmth and is often too bright on my voice. I've heard good...

    What's a step up from the SM58?

I'm no expert and haven't tried anything better but the AKGC2000b was definately a step-up from my 58. Much warmer, more clarity and with the right placement can produce a way better result than the 58. but as someone has already said, a condenser may not be the answer. Hope this helps.

    Any suggestion on Snare samples?

hey, i'm not happy with the snare sample i have in Reason's redrum. I'm looking for something that is dry and has more resonance and sustain... is there any tips i can use to modify the original sample or does anyone know of any free, good snare samples?? Thanks
