Acoustic Foams: Misunderstood or Underrated ?

Really, you think a certain political stance means someone doesn't know what they are talking about in a non-political subject? I'm locking this thread now. TOO MANY IMBECILES!

Acoustic Foams: Misunderstood or Underrated ?

Really? Acoustic treatment is 'snake oil'? If your room still has problems, its the room, the type of acoustic treatment you have, and where it is placed and how much you have. Not that it doesn't work.

Mixer main out to Audio recorder

You'll need to watch the levels into the recorder - what works for the feed to the main speakers may be too loud for your recorder. It's not 'line level'.

Tascam interface Last Straw (bye bye Tascam - hello MOTU)

Your computer should recognize the interface when you turn it's power on. Make sure you have your computer settings correct for this.

    midrange

Lower midrange is where all the 'mud' happens, so it's as important as everything else.

DSP fx… anyone else notice this?

Obviously, the FX are not housed as software in the computer, but remain hardcoded into the interface.

Dumbass noob trying to mix piano/strings/pads - make you experts laugh hysterically!!

I've never put compression after reverb... guess I will need to experiment. Or not. Your issue when turning down the piano parts could be Fletcher-Munson curve issue - lower volume changes how your ear hears it. But also - how are you monitoring?

    room's acoustic treatment

Yes, the first one's vocal is a little undefined, the VSX one has more clarity/top end. I really don't hear reverb on either.

    Stereo Drums To Tape

Why is it only mono going from your PC to the Tascam? You need to split the stereo output of the PC to two lines (L + R) into 2 inputs on the Tascam.

    room's acoustic treatment

I used to close-mic my acoustic guitar before I put some sound treatment in place. Was never a good sound, not sure what mics would be better for it ( a mic is a mic). Some instruments need space for the sound to 'bloom'. Nylon string guitars need more room than steel string guitars, for...

    room's acoustic treatment

In the big room, set up on one short wall towards one corner, microphone 3 or 4 feet out - enough room to put a chair down and sit and play the guitar, facing out diagonally to the far corner. Put gobos, a duvet/whatever behind you. If you have enough gobos, place a couple in a V in front of...

Minimum Requirements for a New PC

What exactly do you mean by "commercial use minimum parameters"? AS others have alreadd pointed out, most times this is about monitoring - if you can;'t hear accurately what you are recording, how can you make judgement calls on the mix?

rode nt1, my recordings sound cheap

We really can't be expected to search out the hundreds (thousands) of voice over samples there to hear what you have heard. As others have said, the NT1 is fairly nuetral on its frequency response chart. What you are probably hearing is more of an effect of proximity of the person recording.

    Strange behavior?

I found it, in the Files> Project Settings menu, have to set it to 'Beats (position only)'.
