I checked out a couple of drum machines yesterday and found a Yamaha RY-10 has pretty decent sounds..its selling for around 200$ Canadian used. Anybody have this or something similar to it? Any comments?

Whats the best way to get drum recordings onto my tascam 414 portastudio? I don't have a drum kit so i was looking for a drum pad or a drum machine type thing.. I also downloaded some drum programs but I wasn't impressed with the sound at all.. I need a good drum sampler for rock type of music.

I have about 1000$ to spend on recording equipment.. I just wanna be able to get a good sound and use some effects and stuff.. Should i go for cassette or midisc or what? Any thoughts?
