Is that a 244 on the shelf above the 512? How long have you been recording? I'm not an expert (and I don't play one on TV), but those sound pretty damn close to professional demos.

    Can't Monitor Buss 2 On My 388

I can monitor every other buss, which makes it even more puzzling.

Tangled Up Tape. Is It Still Usable?

No idea. I put a different tape on the deck. There's only MIDI sync code on track 8 so far anyway

Tangled Up Tape. Is It Still Usable?

It will forever remain a mystery. But I can reveal that a misseated tape reel might have played a large part in this misadventure.

Tangled Up Tape. Is It Still Usable?

It's only the first five minutes or so. Most of it was uncreased and I managed to get it all back on the reel with only one minor hassle (a knot).

Tangled Up Tape. Is It Still Usable?

Don't. Ask. :o Before anyone asks, yes I did get it untangled and back on the reel.

    Can't Monitor Buss 2 On My 388

I can record to track 2 (I checked, had to use the stereo buss for monitoring) and I can play track 2 back (again, through the stereo buss), but, for some reason, the signal from buss 2 isn't getting to the monitor buss. I guess i can work around it, but it is kind of puzzling. Any ideas?

What Was Tascam's Version Of The Fostex 4030/4035?

I did, I was assuming you couldn't sync a 15 IPS machine and a 7.5 IPS machine. Which is why I didn't initially mention the 80-8. I forgot there are 4 machines involved here. It's just that three of them are in one location and the fourth (mine) in another. Timeline Micro Lynxes are thin...

What Was Tascam's Version Of The Fostex 4030/4035?

The example in the 388 manual for A/V shows the 388 connected, via an unnamed synchroniser, to both a C-format 1" VTR and a 3/4" U-matic VCR. Since both systems appear to be tape based would it be reasonable to assume that anything that can be used to transmit timecode from a VTR or U-matic...

What Was Tascam's Version Of The Fostex 4030/4035?

Just an idea I had for a project I'm planning to work on with Mike and Nick from The Brothers Nylon which would involve syncing an Otari MX5050 8 track and 2 388s (mine and theirs'). Only, now I'm guessing I'd have to stripe a sync code on my tape with the same equipment... So it's probably a...
