glynb: i think for only around a hundred extra bucks you could get 1000 cds insterad of 500. it seems like the companies really really push the 1000 cd package thing... (sorry not to change the subject)

vegas is rad. thats what i use to record. i multitrack and mix with it. it's really easy to record and mix with.

i think that with out the ratio slidder moved at all, nothing will be compressed. i mean in order to compress the wave, you need to tell it how much TO compress... i know that is obvious... an example of good settings are (after normalizing your takes...) put the threshold at -24db and have...

hi i am completely new here... i am recording my drums with only one mic, can someone tell me some good compression settings to use? what threshold to use? amount to compress? i use vegas 3.0 and have the basic plugins... any ideas will help.
