Same Problem
I have the same problem. The volume is maxed out and I have to use the master fader to bring it down. Do you know if it was just the volume pot that was replaced? Can you tell me how much money you paid to get yours fixed? I live near the Tascam manufacturer here in Montebello...
I love my 244
I just got my 244 fixed at TEAC in los angeles. I've had it for 4 years and it's so simple and easy. The DBX and 3 3/4 ips, real VUs, mic pres, and gain staged EQ are what really excite me about this 26 year old machine.
That's what I figured. I don't have the schematic so I couldn't figure out how to get to the top cover screws.
I think I'm gonna need a small file or impact driver to get the screw dislodged from the thread of the hole. It's really jammed!
The stop button is lodged halfway under the cutout...
seems like every time i try to fix something, i make it worse.
I took the back cover off to see if i could get to the stop button. nope. tried to put the cover back on and now one of the screws jammed in the hole and i can't get it out or screw it in. it just turns and turns.
very...
I just got my 244 porta repaired and my second day recording on it, the phone rings, i TAP the stop button and CRUNCH. The button smushes under my finger and falls half into it's hole.
Does anyone know how to get to the cassette button area so I can maybe fix it myself? If anyone's done this...
My 244 was bought used for $200 bucks. i took it home and it needed a new motor.
the store was reluctant, but paid for the repair since I just bought it.
I only used it a few times and got the same problem again.
Maybe I've got a lemon, maybe the store repair was just a temp fix. All I know...
