Aux sends feeding the cue mix

Up to now, I've been communicating with the tracking room via the PHONES socket on my Behringer Eurorack MX2642A However, I'm aware that some (most?) people cue using the aux sends. But the aux sends on my desk are mono i.e. when I plug my headphones into one of the aux sends, it only comes...

I am so stupid - please kick me Wrong adapter. I was using an AC adapter at 6 volts when I needed a DC adapter at 10 volts. Once I had changed to the correct adapter, the humming went away.

synth keeps playing a G behind every note

I just bought a second hand MFB Synth Lite. I attached my Oxygen 8 to it and no matter what note I play or how I set the filters, the synth plays a background "G". That's the note of G below middle C. Hence playing any G or any C anywhere on the keyboard sounds fine but play a note that's not...

At the moment the two outs from the card go into the desk group ins. How would the signal get split into...

Soundcraft 6000 desk or a Mackie?

the soundcraft it is I'm gonna have to go for the Soundcraft. If only for the simple reason that it's modular in design meaning if there ARE any problems I can take out individual strips and send them to get repaired. I am definately NOT handy with a soldering iron or any other iron for that...

Soundcraft 6000 desk or a Mackie?

I would be recording my own music (pop/rock/electronica), my work for computer games (general midi stuff) as well as the occasional band. Hence I need 8 outs and 8 ins

Soundcraft 6000 desk or a Mackie?

I've just been offered a Soundcraft 6000 mixing desk for 800 euros (circa 960 dollars). I've heard of the make but know nothing about either them or this particular model. I'm in the middle of googling it now to find out more. Apparently, it cost about 17500 euros (about 21,000 dollars) new in...

    19" guitar tuner

I would like it to be visible from all over the studio and I don't want to have to look for it whenever I need it (which is what happens in my place if something isn't nailed down)

Compression using spaced pair - seperate channel inserts or post fader?

If I am recording using a spaced pair micing setup and I want light compression on both mics, would the serious studio engineer use two seperate compressors as inserts on two seperate channels on the mixing desk or are there compressors out there capable of dealing with two inputs and which have...

    When should you normalise?

When, during the process of producing a song, should one "normalise"? Is it wise to normalise everything straight away or at some other time (like at the end of recording a certain instrument)? The reason I ask is this. Imagine I record one guitar sequence. I chop it in the sequencer and have 2...
