Did you ever find out what happened with your model 80 fostex and track one not working??? I have the same exact problem. It was working muffley, but now not at all. Plays fine, erases fine, but no record. Someone mentioned the relay to switch between record and play, but that doesn't explain the muffley I was getting. Haven't tried the demag yet, but will do soon enough. Thanks.
