fgonza2,
Adjusting the tension on the MS16 is somewhat involved. All the values are in the manual. Are you having a tension problem ? If not I wouldn't mess with it. In regard to the tape guides only the center guide is adjustable. The outer guides are fixed. Perhaps you mean the rollers ...
Hi Danny,
Yes I visit the forum a lot but haven't posted in a long time :) All is well here in Bangor, Pa. My little studio is busy, bout a couple of projects a month which is just right for an old guy :)
Pictures of the back and side of your MS16 would be great. I actually have a spare...
Danny,
Beautiful work !! :) and a very nice setup you have. Glad to see your MS16 and your DIY mount for an overbridge for the meter assembly.Danny if you have a chance to take a photo of that from the side and rear and post it I would very much appreciate it. That might make it possible for...
Randy,
Just curious if you ever set up your latest MS16 with the overbridge ? I have been searching for the overbridge but never had any luck finding one. If you could post a pic or email me a pic perhaps I could try to fabricate one. My brother in law has a machine shop :) Thanks a bunch...
Check the spec's on the ATR tape. I believe it is somewhat thicker. 2.28 mils for ATR vs 1.97 mils for 456 and 911. That much of a difference might require some adjustment to your pinch roller pressure to keep your MS16 happy :) Regards, Dave
Randy,
I have been using 406 on my MS16 and like it very much. It is bias compatible to 456. Check out this link. I have purchased a few pancakes from them and their shipping is fast and items have been packed very well. Regards, Dave

Congrats on the MS16 and Studio Master ! Your recording sounds very good. Nice Job! Good luck with everything and here's a link for you to check out for tape. These are pancakes that you could easily assemble to your 456 flanges. My MS16 is very happy with them and they are bias...
Hi James !
Back in the 80's I had a Fostex M80 which was eventually replaced by your R8. Nice little machine. Needing more tracks I sold it and picked up a Tascam MSR-16. That too was an excellent machine. A few years ago a Tascam MS16 showed up on ebay and the unit was in Philadelphia Pa...
Hey Sweet !
My Dad played the pipe organ back in the silent movie days in many of the theaters in New York city. Sadly I wasn't born yet so I never got to witness any of that. I do remember some friends of his discovered that one of the very same instruments he had played on was rescued by a...
Bguzaldo,

Saw these for sale on ebay. Does anyone have any knowledge of this type of tape ? I didn't see any info on it in the sticky shed post. Just wondering if it's for audio use. I guess if it's 3600' reels then it's probably thinner then say 456 ? Thanks. Dave
Sweet,
How goes it ? I know I haven't been around on the forum for quite a while but I still drop in occasionally. In regard to your question I use a Tascam 2600 MKII with my MS16. It has 8 busses but mostly I'm using direct outs. I have some external mic pre's that I use on occasion also. The...
Has anyone purchased any 406 pancakes from Reel Deal pro audio ? If so do you know the date of manufacture ? I have emailed them but haven't gotten a response yet. Thanks, Dave
