ITS ALL A HOAX
My two DX-4D's don't need calibration the way my DBX 150'S and DBX 150X's Do.
I just plug them in and hit record. Wished I would have had the DX-4D'S back in 1985
for my Tascam 48ob which still works great today.
Jack
I recorded really hot with a little high end boost then rolled some top back off in the 1970's before I got DBX NR.
You and I were using 1/4 inch reel to reels vs. cassettes. IMHO vastly superior.
Course the Beatles used 1 inch tape on the Telefunken and Studer 4-tracks.
I have 4 analog...
Rob--I agree with you about the simplicity of DAW'S today. I use Cubase 7.07 most of the time but I do like an analog front end.
Either Waves Studer j-37 plugin or my Teac--Tascam tape machines. Being 68 years young I was using my
Teac A-2340 4-track years before the portastudio came out and...
The Beatles bounced tracks between two 4-track machines a lot
say tracks 1,2,3,4 were full on one Studer j-37 4-track.
They then would merge say tracks 1 & 2 together on the 2nd 4-track
leaving tracks 3 & 4 alone on the 2nd Studer -37 4-TRACK
2nd 4-track
track 1. 1&2
track 2. empty...
That's why reel to reel people need someone like skywave to learn how to repair these vintage things.
Anyone can be a parts changer.
I know a man in LA whose very competent but about to retire
plus I've learned about a man whose retiring in Springfield Oregon
who was in the business for a long...
Yea even Adrian is retiring at Adrian Pro Audio in Los Angles
Got this news from Tinman over at TAPEHEADS.
I'm trying to learn myself just to keep my
own Tape decks going.
Jack :-):-)
Hi folks--Anyone know the correct
Fuse Lamp to use in a Tascam 22-4?
I found this from an old link from Skywave
https://www.jkllamps.com/incandescent/fuselamps
Like usual the Tascam 22-4 manual doesn't show it.
Had the same problem with Bulbs
in my Tascam 48 manual.
A quick call to Tascam parts...
Take the reels off or at least release the tension
off of the hubs. The hubs are plastic and the constant
tension can crack them. A few Tascam techs
have told me this.
Jack :)
Hi Tinymotel-- The Tascam 58 run's at 15 ips and I believe your 388 runs at 7 1/2 ips.
IMHO I would say no to syncing the two machines.
I use RMGI SM-911 Tape on my Tascam 48 and Tascam TSR-8. It's good tape.
Jack:)
Yea--Shure sm 57's & 58's DBX 160 Compressors
JBL 4311 monitors ----Egg cartons or carpets on walls
Towels on Drums and somtimes Tom's were miked from underneath.
Tascam Model 5 & 80-8.
I was there
