It was recorded with a Samson c01 about 6 inches from the neck/ body join in the conventional fashion. Unfortunately, given the artist's insistence on laying down the guitar & vocal together without a click track over dubbing is not an option & most of what you are hearing is bleed on the vocal...

I could do with some fresh ears on these please.

Apologies if this is an idiot question, but how problematic is it to attach an interface through a usb hub? Or for that matter an external hard drive?
I went to turn on my main PC this morning & nothing is happening, but I do have a laptop that I bought to keep on top of emails while I'm on...
Hi all,
I'm looking at trying to put out some live stuff in the relatively near future & I was just looking for some advice on the best way to multi-track a live solo 'acoustic' recording.
I'm playing small venues & mixing live on a Yamaha EMX 5016CF & I'm looking to get separate acoustic...
I feel I should point out (in my defence) that the track is as yet unmixed - I just did a quick export with the levels where they'd been during tracking. I'm just working on programming some better drums now....
We did try this and recorded several takes of her singing along with her first take. She thought it was better - I wasn't convinced what she put down was any better, in fact I though she probably found it easier because the 'good' take in her headphones hid some of the worse notes in her live...
- are you getting paid
Bottle of Scotch is coming my way I think...
- are you recording/mixing engineer
I'm a musician who does the odd bit of recording (mostly of me, occasionally of other people) in my home studio
- have you made any promises to make them sound "fabulous"
I haven't...
I've been asked by a friend of mine to record some demos of songs he writes with his girlfriend. The trouble is she does the singing, and she's just not all that good at it - warbly, out of tune, nasal and weak.
As I'm stuck with her I just thought I'd see what tricks you guys might employ...
In the past I've faked a string section by using a violin playing friend of mine and multi tracking him. It lacks some of the depth you'd get from an quartet with a cellist, but definitely sounds more like real strings than anything I could do with samples...
I've heard enough 335s, Rickenbackers and archtops sounding awesome to consider them more than 'exceptions' ' Chuck Berry; Cream era Clapton (y'know, when he was good); B.B. King; Chet Atkins; Brian Setzer; The Beatles; The Byrds; Pete Townsend - it could be a long list!
You'll have to forgive my ignorance -what do you mean by 'res' in this context?
Attached is the current mix which I've tinkered with in light of your advice. What's changed:
-Increased the compression on the acoustic and pulled it up a bit. Also EQed out some mud on both that and the lead...
Thanks for listening @Bruthish. I suppose the idea of this one was to contrast a grungy vocal with a slightly more conventional 'country-rock' feeling backing track, but you're right - it's that lack of energy that's bothering me. It should be laid back rather than lacklustre....
Just got a small laptop for on-the-road communications, but I wanted a DAW on there, and was after some recommendations.
I've been using Cubase LE5 for years, so I'm very familiar with that, but I'm not sure I have any installations left on my license.
Mostly I was anticipating using it for...
