IMO (like it really matters) the AT4041 Studio Pack is a great starter set. They aren't superior mic's obviously, but they are a good bang for the buck. Without room treatment and decent preamps etc, better mic's will probably just work against you because you will probably be picking up more...

I've been using XP for about 2 years now with absolutely no issues. I've always used a Presonus Firebox as my interfarce and Tracktion software. For the most part I would say that most host programs would run just fine on XP without a hitch, I think most problems occur when incompatible plugins...

As far as I know, you should be able to connect the RNC (as an insert) with a single TRS cable. Or you can use a Y connector with a single TRS that splits to two TS connectors.

Sounds great IMO. I agree, mixing the DI with the mic really opens things up sonically, and give you lots more to work with.

You really can't go wrong with Lexicon products IMO. I recently replaced my old Quadraverb with an MPX-1 and I've been pretty happy with it so far.

All depends on how the guitar is recorded. I have achieve excellent results, many times with my Celebrity. Don't blame the instrument. I used mine for years playing clubs and never once had a problem with it til my 2yr old knocked it over and cracke the neck joint. But even after a neck reset...

Yes indeed, and cost more than the unit itself. IMO, I'd rather spend my $$$ on a nice new unit that works without any mods. The RNC is a nice lil' unit too.

I was thinking I paid like $350 for my RNP, but now that you mention it, it was $450 (new). I must have been thinking of another piece of gear. Heck.....who's keeping track. Obviously I'm not. :o None the less, it's a good piece of gear for the price.

More like $250. But price was never mentioned.
