    Seeking Headphones...

No SPAM, I'm a regular Joe. There is a model of Ultrasone hp's that are open designed. The model I purchsed is not open. Here's a direct link: http://www.ultrasone.de/html_e/produkte/hfi550beat.html I worked 12 years in broadcasting (radio) so I'm very conscience of the bleed from open phones...

    Seeking Headphones...

I've been using Fostex T-20's forever (20+ years) This past weekend I bought a pair of Sony MDR-7506 and a pair of Ultrasone HFI-550. I'm really digging the spatial imaging in the Ultrasone HP's (see link) http://www.ultrasone.com/

    ECM8000 as overheads

Good point, but the seperation between condensation drip and the running air conditionar can be quite striking when recorded in stereo. Cardioids would be a better choice because of the small size of the instrument. ;)

    midi sequencing, tempo

Cakewalk has a feature that allows you to "tap" a tempo, but you're not using Cakewalk. Maybe the Korg has a similar feature? Also, (DISCLAIMER) I've never tested this But there is a popular formula that says: [Using the formula 60,000 divided by bpm of song equals the number of milliseconds...

    Stereo tracks

I looked at the photo of the tascam 414 mkii w/o reading the specs. For what ever reason I thought it was an 8track cassette instead of 4 track. Either way, the cabling I mentioned still applys. Since it is indeed a 4track machine sjjohnston brings up some poignant issues, such as recording the...

    Stereo tracks

I just thought I would add: Over the weekend I was inserting an effect into my mixer and the cable made me think of your question. You could turn an "insert cable" around to achieve the same thing. Plug the 2-TS ends into the mixers main outputs (L&R), then plug the TRS end into your recorder's...

    Recording with computer sequencing

I don't know about the Korg.. I use a Roland VS880 and Cakewalk. Syncing is not a problem. Set Cakewalk to MTC (MIDI Time Code) Set the VS to generate MTC.. press play on Cakewalk, it waits for sync, press play on the VS and both will play. I would hope the (newer than my Roland) Korg unit...

    O/L's on my VC3Q

Push it.. it's OK to light up often (not constantly). The JoeMeek sounds better when driven. Even though I read that in the manual, (it's in there) it still took a while for me to grasp that concept.

    midi control message

Obviously every manufacturer writes their documentation differently. I can't recall ever seeing a section in a manual dedicated to using control data. Most of the time the controller data will be in the specifications in the rear of the manual. If the manual has a section called "MIDI...

    midi control message

This is a feature I don't hear/read much talk about in home recording circles. There could be exceptions but, if it has MIDI inputs it should respond to controller data. If you check the owner's manual on the processors there should be a list of controllers. Utilizing controller data in some...

    Stereo tracks

The stereo input on the tascam 414 mkii appears to be a 1/4" TRS from the photo. (I don't use one) the stereo inputs could be used for almost any stereo source; drum machine, synth module or mixer outputs. So assuming that your drum machine, synth module or mixer has 2-1/4" TS outputs...

    Radio Shack?? Opinions welcome!!

Sorry, I did not realize their was a particular mic in question. I'm aware that the mic on the link was indeed made by Shure, that was the point in posting the link. I would venture a guess that Radio Shack often if not always buys this type of item from another manufacturer and re-badges...

Advice for a pair of Choir mics please

If it were me I would not rely on batteries for power in a church application. In a lot of apps those will get hung from the ceiling so access will be limited. Keeping a fresh supply of batteries can be a chore. 1st thing you know you're stretching the limits of battery life or you're out a...

    ECM 8000 and EQ?

I record voice only and voice over events. I used a pair of ECM8000's to record a mass wedding (part of a larger seminar on Relationships). I have a 40second mp3 If anyone is interested in hearing it.. CAUTION Religous theme.. The room seats about 1750, there were about 1500 attending I would...
