Not yet. But perhaps on the clock.
I'm down to just 2 decks. A 34 and a br-20. Both Atr-100's are gone along with the 16 track. Just thinking about what to keep and what to let go.
Hi All,
I've been shedding a bunch of hardware and in general downsizing - I plan on sailing away for 5 years...
But, I have kept a few things and have a need/desire for a Tascam M-1B manual (service or operators or both)
Pointers to the right place would be welcome.
The electronics use a LM318 opamp (if I recall right) and a bunch of discrete transistors. The 318 was damn fast for its time, 15 MHz BW and 50 V/uS slew rate. The deck has transformers and use a servo loop for tape speed and reel tension.
A good upgrade is to replace the metal "capstan" (it...
I've not gotten much use in the last few years. I primarly like to recore pipe organs and moving them around takes a lot of coordination.
Major mojo...
I'm not using my Ampex atr-100s much now. I'm torn between keeping them and selling them. Both are halftrack machines, one is 1/4" the other is 1/2". They are both functional and appear to have been atr-104 once upon a time. They could be used as-is or sent off to ATR Services.
I'm really torn...
I'm cleaning out the garage and listed some 1" tape on the adds section. Some 499, 456 and precision reels with likely sticky 996 on them. The precision reels are outstanding for those who have never used them...
Hi All, I'm cleaning out the garage (em, studio) bit by bit. I have some 1" tape that I want to move.
2 reels of Ampex 456
2 reels of ampex/quantegy 499
5 reels of Scotch 996 on precision reels
1 precision reel without tape.
All are 1", the 996 is likely sticky so the value is in the reels...
I might have one. They are spendy....
I would need to check out the card I have and be sure that it works. The relays do go bad and can be replaced. Do you know if your relays have been replaced?
post a photo of one of your cards if you get a chance. there are a number of mods that have been...
I've owned both and like the 3440 better both sound wise and because the 3440 is a more usable deck in terms of multitrack recording. I sold both of them some time ago and still wish I had of kept the 3440 (there is a photo of it somewhere on the list with the Mahogany panels - found it...
I'm thinking of selling my (Sweetbeat's old machine) Tascam 58. I do want an arm and a leg for it as that it is in outstanding condition. I'm just not using it for the last year or more. I would want to check it out before offering it to be sure there were no problems and make a youtube video...
Sweetbeats, are you talking about the sidepanel sheet metal or the wood trim. The wood on this is just painted fir and with your Walnut you should be able to come up with something very nice.
PM me for parts -
Not too many bumps. The motherboard was cracker which I repaired. some of the pots need to be straightened and or replaced. It appears to be fixable and actually close to being "fixed".
I did notice the very low selling price of the M512/20 mixers and thought that I could get more $ by parting...
Now that my M520 is gone I have a M512 that took one too many bumps in shipping. Should I just sell it as is or part it out. It is a shame to part it but if the parts make some others M512/520 whole it would be good.

Well just thought I'd drop by at a down time here at work (one of the few). If anyone wants a M520 I'm ready to sell mine. Down here in Portland (PDX) and Seattle is not so far away. Offers are good.
