I think that there is a good chance that they are two different things. The base being a USB hub with two USB type A ports and a USB type B port which would go to the computer. So the base is a hub and the gooseneck is a peripheral. Any chance the gooseneck is a camera?

not exactly in the budget, and I prefer to have a more portable sound than that as I already have multiple amps and I like driving tubes with OD pedals a lot.

any chance that anyone has like some sort of A/B comparison on the differences that an opamp swap can make in a unit. Personally i'm modding the art mp project series but any model and manufacturer is welcome i was just curious as to the impact that opamps can make.

Best idea (i think) would be to A/B it with a known good source. like a friends unit that is perhaps of slightly lesser or equal quality but you know that its producing a good sound. Then compare.

i dont think he was saying that "there is no way anything is better than an sm57" but i think he was rather saying, "if you cant get a good sound with a 57 then something is wrong on your end."

yea thats what i'm using as a guide for the mod but that guide is also for the tube mp and not the project series.

Dunlop jazz III, try 'em for a week and after that any other pick will feel like your using a ping pong paddle to play guitar with.

still IMHO, i'd still rather have a punchy warm tube sound compared to just DI.

i'll take the sound of a clean vintage thousand dollar tube amp over a two hundred dollar piece of software any day.

personally i'm not a huge fan of a LDC on an acoustic guitar i'm very partial to an sdc. so if your recording vocals and acoustic i would go with the 4040/4041 combo. I have used the 4040's and they're great mics.
