Mixing is an art that takes years of experience to master. By correcting these 5 things my mixes not only sound better but I'm also able to complete them faster. As always comments, questions, and feedback are always welcome...

Things I wish I learned about audio engineering

I think every client is different and the skill is knowing how to figure out what type of client you're working with. If I record someone like you that wants to just do new takes as quickly as possible, then I know I should have everything set up and ready to go; extra tracks, inputs and effects...

Things I wish I learned about audio engineering

I recently decided to write an article on things I wished I learned sooner about audio engineering, in it I talk about a few things that would have saved me a lot of frustration! It received a really great response so I decided to start a blog where I can share more of my ideas. Check out...

SAVE ME! 48khz sounds like a chipmunk when burned to a cd?

I think it has to do with the fact that my clock was set to 44.1 and the session was at 48khz. Now I have to play it back exactly the same or else the speed changes.

SAVE ME! 48khz sounds like a chipmunk when burned to a cd?

Ok so I intern at a studio and ive worked my way up to being allowed to engineer lower profile sessions. So for todays session I accidently set up for 48khz PT session instead of what we usually use 44.1khz. Now, my boss has always told me never to record in 48khz because it will sound fast like...

Acoustic song - What'd You Do That For?

Very good tune!!! The only thing that I didnt like was drums. The drums kind of take away from the song instead of adding to it but everything else is top notch good job.

    bouncng down ruins mixes.

Im going to correct myself it does not lower the quality but people do believe it makes the stereo field more narrow.

    bouncng down ruins mixes.

My professor stated that although digidesign and some others say this doesn't happen. Most professionals find it better to mix down to a two track device instead of bouncing because of some loss of quality. I think I didn't clarify what I was saying and the word "ruined" is a little to intense...

    bouncng down ruins mixes.

Just learned in audio class that when you bounce down from a program like pro tools you actually lose some of your stereo imaging so you are better off sending the outputs to a two track machine. Anyone else want to add anything to this.

When + why do YOU multitrack guitars

Everyone gave you some great answers so all I can really add is to do whatever you feel you need to do. If you are getting a good sound with one track then by all means only use one track. Im not saying you shouldn't try mulitracking guitars, experimentation is always necessary when trying to...
