Dani, I happened across a post where you mentioned you have done quite a bit of Guitar refinishing. I have a Martin d-18 that the finish has peeled terribly. I am not the original owner so I cannot send it to Martin to refinish it. 2/3rds of the top has peeled and a portion on the back as well, along with most of the top side. I think it was a factory defect because it literally peeled off like dead skin after a sunburn.
I am considering removing the remainder of the finish and just going with a satin finish of some kind. I realize the cost of a refinish and that is just not in the budget.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
