yup Ya, he's a good friend of mine, he used to play for a band and I took over for him when he left to do his own thing.

Magic Hero vs. Rock People thanks! I dig your music, and it all sounds great. Are you one of a group or do you do everything yourself? Thanks for the links and the insight, I'm very interested in how things were done back in the golden era, because... (almost) nothing sounds as good these...

Slightly OT: How do you clean your vinyl?

good vinyl, crap sleeve Does anyone have suggestions for a situation like the one WLR came across when he was a kid with those beatles 1st pressings? I mean to keep the record if the sleeve is trashed, can you just buy blank sleeves from anywhere? Also, has anyone ever tried using...

thanks! Thanks for the feedback! While I understand there's some loss of quality you can't escape from, I figure the only way to qualify and understand the loss of quality is to try it over and over again until I can get to a point where I know that the signal degradation is only due to the...

fish fillet thanks! I posted another one today. www.myspace.com/dannoise I just jam out something on one instrument then do the rest one layer at a time, and I try to improvise as much as possible until I get something that I think is at least pleasing to the ear. I'm more about learning...

Analog fun Hey, neat postings everyone. Here's some more. I've been playing with a tascam 246, an sm-57 and an sm-58. I clipped #4 a bit and was too lazy to redo it today. http://www.myspace.com/dannoise All thoughts and input appreciated.

    244 channel strip

yup yeah, I've played with all the settings and such. Spent some serious time with the 244 manual (that some kind soul posted to this forum... which is the whole reason I found this awesome place). I've also done some serious multitracking with my 246, so I'm 100% confident it isn't a...

    Degaussing

sweet thanks, I'm not as hesitant to drop 70 bucks on one... everyone seems to swear by them. Now... to find someone who'll ship to canada for less than half the cost of the thing.

    244 channel strip

Just picked up a 244 and it sounds amazing, sadly it sounds better than my 246. [the normal tape speed is much faster than the 246 as well, is that normal? I thought they were supposed to be compatible but they are only compatible if I turn the pitch knob on the 244 all the way down]...

    244/246 Cassette Tape Types

no go on the metals no go on the metal tapes... they weren't blank and for some reason they don't erase properly, so you can hear what was once on them. I'll hang on to them and maybe try to erase them with a degausser or when I find one. Oh, I also just picked up a 244, and that inherent...

    244/246 Cassette Tape Types

sweet excellent, I'll do some sonic taste testing and see if I notice much difference in sound quality. I'm trying to get as good a drum sound as possible with a 57 and a 58... Pleasantly surprised so far (I'm not deluded, just happy that I have a decent and workable/inspiring demo sound)...

    244/246 Cassette Tape Types

tapes thanks, glad I asked on here before I used my metal masters on them. So the metal tapes actually wear down the recording heads? Brutality. Is it the kind of thing that's appropriate to pull out for a special occasion or would you stay away from it altogether? And thanks for the...

    244/246 Cassette Tape Types

I've been scouring the web, and a clear source of information on tape types seems hard to find. What does Type I, Type II, Type III... ACTUALLY mean? I have a 246 now, and I'm impressed. But I want to maximise my fidelity. I have access to a sony "Metal Master" tape but I'm wary of trying...
