I hear ya.
If I double a guitar track and play it the same yet just want to beef it up I would still consider that as one element (if the guitar tracks were the same)...so you could record the same guitar part as much as you want to beef it up.
Adding a different guitar part aside from main...
Dont shoot the messenger...the 4 or 5 "element" concept does work in regards to uncluttering a mix...Not saying anyone has to do that when mixing however I have adopted this concept and it works.
Element doesnt mean instrument...you could have 100 instruments in song however they cant all be...
I agree...there was enough tracks to fill song however I didnt use all guitar tracks because the extra guitar cluttered the mix and got in the way of the vocals...Basically I would redo the lead/Rhythm lead guitar tracks and had player play when vocals were not present to fill in gaps where...
Thanks...Its a good song.
If I were to do a final mix for this I would proabaly get band/person to record another lead guitar track to fill in the dead spaces in song...I would also try adding a distant keyboard pad to fill in and enhance the back of the mix...More backup vocals would put the...

Kick
snare
OHL
OHR
Room
Hats
Ride
Tom1

Are the drums real or programed...just wondering what I would be dealing with mixing wise...are there drum stems...kick snare overheads room ect.
need reference mixes...you have any suggestions for songs or bands to listen to that do this type of guitar stuff...I want to listen to what their...
I will try a mix and others...post stems over at mixoff.org and see if you get the mix you want.

You can use DI and pod...DI and amp sims are pretty good for clean guitar stuff...Or you can buy a shure sm57 mic and record your amp (if you can or have one)...I like to use the...
