Thank you David, I believe that you are correct, it is in the computer somewhere. The meters are at about 3/4 green into yellow, but the meters on the HD24 are showing red. I found a USB to IDE interface, and I am going to try that, Thing only cost me 30 bucks, hopefully the problem will be...

Guys, I did quit, so far, been a long time, Please can we help my innocent gear?

I would like to know if there is a way to reverse any damage caused by heavy smoking in my studio/control room? I did some work many years ago in a studio and we were smoking practically on top of a very nice trident console, I kind of figured that" smoking around the gear will kill it" thing...

well I am sorry to report that the bit length change made no difference, checked the levels in ableton, did the transfer again, everything works as expected, but the tracks are unplayable, they sound like digital distortion/feedback/clipping. trying a new interface timarrow, instead of hooking...

Are bit rate and sample rate the same thing, if so, both machines are using 44.1. possibly the recorded levels were way too high? but the files sound fine on the computer they were recorded on.??????????????????? Thanks for the response, I refuse to give up. :confused:

Well Im getting closer, I can get the files on the drive,but they are wrong, Any suggestions????? ? The sound is like the digital distortion or clipping or something, very unpleasant, and probably not real good for the console.

checking on the sample rate, done somewhere else by someone else, alesis says it wants wav files, could a crappy thumb drive cause this? thank you for responding, I didn't think anyone cared. I really need to solve this problem, as this entire project, all of the work tracks have been recorded...
