I have mixed a couple of singers using this mic live and I was quite impressed with it on male vocal. The place I was working only had Audio Technica wireless so this was a nice change. If you do live stuff this mic can be a bit picky, but you may like it on a select number of singers. Good...
I'm not sure if this mic was already mentioned, but I've been quite impressed with the open and really fat kick drum sound I've been able to get out of a Shure KSM27. Not a bad mic for $300. I also have the AKG D112 and CAD E100 which aren't bad for kick either. When I do concerts, the live...
I was just given an AKG D707E microphone for free. I can't really find any info on this mic and there aren't any up on ebay currently. Can anyone here tell me what this mic is good for? Is it rare or something? All I know is that it's old, shiny, works and sounds great. Thanks for any info, -DJ
I don't know what's so great about the Mackie stuff. I think the Allen&Heath MixWiz series is much better for the money. And when I can borrow it, I love recording on the 32 channel Midas Venice. -DJ
I just bought a 388.
A few months ago some recording engineer guy donated a 388 and a whole crap load of old Ibanez out board gear to my old high school. They didn't want the 388, so I bought it off them for $200. It came with the manual, the remote, two custom Switchcraft patchbays and a...
Well thank you for your advice. I got them to knock down the price to $55 so I got my band together at the thrift store and we moved it with a piano dolly and a truck. It works great and sounds wonderful in my studio. Thanks, -Dan
I just found a 1975 Lowery Magic Genie 88 Organ at a local thrift store for $80. It turns on and everything except for one key appears to work fine. It sounds beautiful, but is it worth the cost and labor to move it? Any info on this thing would be great. Thanks, -Dan
I used a rackmounted DOD 8 channel mixer on tour with the Ohio Ballet. I don't suggest buying one. The FOH engineer before me on that tour put a "POS" sticker on top of the DOD logo. He was quite right, though. Interesting design but not very good pre's and terrible eq. -DJ
Oops sorry, I just remembered that Mackie only sells this model with an internal power supply, sorry for the confusion. This may help. http://www.mackie.com/support/downloads/manuals.html
I would definitely contact Mackie as soon as possible. It sounds like a problem with the outboard power supply and not your board. I don't think Mackie makes the greatest power supplies. I really hope it's the PSU and not the board, much less expensive to fix. Best of luck though, that's a...
I just bought the Allen & Heath MixWiz 16:2. It is an awesome mixer for the money. Clean, quiet, and wonderful for recording. So, if you have a spare $999 USD this would be the perfect mixer for you. I'm not the biggest fan of Alesis gear. I used a couple of their products for live sound...
I just bought the TC Electronics M300 and so far I have been quite impressed with it. You can use as much or as little of the effects they provide. It's very "tweakable" if you want it to be. It's also only about four or five inches deep. And for only $200 you can't beat it.
