weird problem: wav files getting mixed up

Could you elaborate on what exactly you mean by "saving files properly"?

weird problem: wav files getting mixed up

You mean create seperate folders for each song? I'm pretty obsessively organized about my files, they're all in their own song folders that are in their own project folders. And the files that are getting mixed up are named completely different things, e.g. "guit1" gets mixed up with "vox2-2".

weird problem: wav files getting mixed up

This happened to me first in Sound Forge, now in Vegas. I'll record or mix a track one day, open it up again a couple weeks later and it'll have little bits of other wav files that I've recorded or edited interspersed throughout it. So for example, let's say I'm listening back to a song I...

    cubase pisses me off

I swear I tried the selected tracks option and all it did was put all the files used in the selected tracks into a folder, not actually build a wav file from the edited track.

    cubase pisses me off

We did a lot of the tracking ourselves, along with the friend whose setup we used. None of us are experienced enough or have enough equipment to make a decent mix though. It's a pretty common thing, tracking at home and mixing in a studio.

    cubase pisses me off

Wow, my post sure did cause a stir; shoulda' known that it would, posting it in a Cubase forum. I'll try to respond to all the posts that warrant responding: The Flame: We recorded it on a friend's computer who happened to have Cubase and we're mixing it in a real studio that runs ProTools, so...

    cubase pisses me off

Ha, I know it's ridiculous. I'm very afraid of what the mixing engineer will say :) . And that's after consolodating a bunch of the tracks, it was up around 50.

    cubase pisses me off

That's what we're doing, it takes 2-3 minutes per track and we have 30-40 tracks for each song.

If only we could have recorded in ProTools... I've heard that OMF can be a little buggy sometimes.

    cubase pisses me off

My band just recorded an album on a friend's computer with Cubase. All fine and good except we're mixing somewhere else on Protools, so we have to manually mix every track down in order to import it into Protools. This isn't so much a question as it is venting. How can Cubase call itself a...

    tone difference in punch-ins?

As an addendum to this, is there any way to zero out that little volume handle without having to go back and drag it down again?

    bass DI buzz/noise

everything's on the same circuit so that shouldn't be it. yep, didn't do anything. yup do you mean computer monitor or speaker monitor? either way that doesn't seem to make too much of a difference. not sure what that means, sorry. :o oh, you mean just don't run them side by side, i get it

    bass DI buzz/noise

I'm home-tracking an album right now and we just started tracking bass. We mic'ed the amp with a Beta52 and ran a balanced out from the head. The mic sounded great but the direct line had all kinds of buzz. So we tried a direct box instead (whirlwind imp2) but had the same problem. The buzz got...

    tone difference in punch-ins?

We were monitoring with headphones both times, so I don't think there was any bleed. And no pedal hooked up either. I do have active pickups but the battery was replaced pretty recently so I don't think that's it either. Must just be a difference in playing, though it sure does sound like...
