yehh its external and you plug it in via usb... it allows you to play your guitar into your laptop.... get this software called guitar rig 3 and your sorted for getting great sounds... then some recording software then you can record it.... i would recommend investing in some HIGH QUALITY speakers so you dont loose any sound quality coz stuff is gonna sound crap coming out of little laptop speakers lol!!
