That makes sense. Let me elaborate....I'm using a simple limiter vst that only has threshold making up the gain and when I turn on the level amp which is called Thrillseeker LA I'm putting it on the default setting along with the hot setting on the limiter which the threshold is pretty high and...
I was reading about this on a site and something that never occurred to me to try. I pretty much have both of these in Adobe Audition (hard limiter and the level amp. in the mastering section) but personally I found them overbearing so got a simple limiter plugin and a level amplifier plugin...
Many people...including the band and read James Hetfield in a Guitar magazine back in around 1990 hated the production and mix of ...And Justice For All. To me, it's a pretty interesting album and not just because I like it. Yes, the bass it very flat. The first problem is no Cliff Burton and...
lol actually was 4 tube gain eq's, 1 parametric eq, 2 voice enchancers and it was when I tried using Audition's parametric on one of the vocal tracks to get a tad more mid-high it crashed, blue screen of death and spent the rest of the night doing a system restore.
This is a newer computer too...
That's kind of what I was thinking to get a leveled mix. I was thinking about just putting Adobe's limiter and setting it at -3 and perhaps take out most of the attack and release so it doesn't sound squashed ont he mixdown.
Or I have a basic limiter plugin I downloaded (called basic...
Actually I really don't need to. I used to use a cheap dynamic mic so there was a small amount of hiss and low background noise....with this condenser mic I got it's absolutely night and day.
Thank you for the previous help, got another question.
A couple quick questions. I've read some articles online about putting effects such as compression and eq on the master before the mixdown. Never really occurred to try this. I've been working on getting a mix around -6 to -3 which I did...
Well I unfortunately have to agree but not by choice. Last night I got a couple of free vst eq's and set them guitars, acoustic guitar and drums with different eq settings. It actually crashed the program and windows.
After you place too much fx Adobe gets very laggy to the point you can't...
Just curious, since I am using a digital recording program (Audition) and do not have a mixing board, is it normal to put eq in each recorded track? This would pertain to my tracks I recorded with a mic, not from my computer though I guess could do that also.
Also, on the master track is there...
Is there anything wrong with putting eq on the master before mixing to a single waveform vs doing it on the mixdown on either the waveform or on the rack effect settings?
Is there anything wrong also with using rack effect plugins along with the effects built in with the program such as...
This was the most frustrating part for me going from Cool Edit Pro to Audition. I'm sure there is reasoning for this but the frustration of having to go into your recording settings in windows then changing your sample rate in the options.
Hello,
last music demo I did I was unaware that there was an effects rack...this would have obviously saved me much time.
My questions are once I get my mixdown, I'm trying to set compression levels but keep them to a point where it doesn't squish the music too much. I like the multiband...
I got hooked up with a Bellinger mic200 preamp...which is your basic preamp. Was talked into it as I was using a vocal mic to my amp straight into the computer. However he had no power supply when he gave it to me. I tried one that fit and the lights came on but the power light is not on.
The...
Hello,
I'm currently working on another demo and used cs6 a couple years ago and at that time I did way too much eq's on wav files and compression on the mixdown and sounded very over compressed and wavy.
I was thinking to keep the recording mixdown simple by on the mastering having a flat eq...
