Thanks for all the helpful answers,I will try them on my stereo system,can't hurt,might help.I am currently using an alesis 100 watt amp and some small monitor size speakers,I think the speakers are actually for a stereo system but they work good,sony or one of those,can't remember right off.

What if you have a nice home stereo system but the amp portion has the tone and volume controls,it's own preamp,would that work or not given the fact that you already have those controls on your mixer.If so then what would you set the levels and tone on it to get accuracy.

Yes they are fairly wide and semi flat to actually flat across the tops.They list them as 6105's and the pictures of 6105's I've seen are narrow and tall,not wide and flat or semi flat.

It is new from the store I bought it from so I am assuming it is factory fresh.Would the warranty cover taking it to an authorized repair shop and have it looked at or what is my recourse.

I recently bought a fender road worn guitar 50's and the frets they say are 6105's but they look kind of flat.Are the supposed to be that way?

Could it also be the rubber on the capstan roller is not "true" or uneven,like wider on one end or sort of conical shaped.It looks ever so slightly uneven.

I've got a tsr8 and when I engage play everything seems fine but the tape slides a little further up on the tape guide post than it should.This is the one on the right as the tape is leaving the heads and before it touches the capstan.What is causing this and how can it be adjusted.It doesn't...

what causes tape shed? What causes a tape to shed?Is it age or overuse,I have some tapes that are a few years old but are still sealed in the plastic bag and box they came in,could they still shed.Also where are the good sources for decent tape?

what about quantegy gp-9 from tapeandtape? I was thinking about getting a quantegy gp-9 reel from him.He says they are new and not used,would this be risky.Is everything he sells crap?I have never bought from him,but I wonder why he has such a high positive rating on ebay.

Yep,everything is pretty much analog.From xt20 analog outs I'm going to an analog mixer and outs to the cd recorder analog inputs.Nothing fancy.Thanks for the info!
