here's a better idea. you can rent pro gear pretty cheap if you live near a big city. Rent a summit limiter or some other vintage tube compressor and hit it real hot. You can get your waveform big as hell and it'll sound a hell of a lot better.

make sure the box that says make recording match project tempo is NOT clicked. hope that helps if not, you got problems

I joined this one pretty late but this is in response to the first post. When it comes to quanitization levels I can't tell the difference above 20 bit. But as for sample rate I feel there is a major difference and that difference is harmonics. Harmonics are what make us hear the difference...

If you gonna use software compression, use Wave's Rennaissance Compressor. It sounds VERY similar to a real hardware compressor and I think it adds a little warmth to your audio.
