I recorded a vocal onto a track in Cakewalk 7 and played it back. It was fine a couple of times, but now I can´t hear it. Any ideas why? What did I do wrong?

If you already have a mixer, buy the D-90 or the new D-108. I have the D-90 and it works great. Think about how many inputs you need, drum machines, etc. Are the inputs on the FD-8 enough for you? Will they be enough in the future? If doubtful, go with hard-disc recording with a separate mixer...

Do you use a compressor? If not, do it. Recording the bass directly into the mixing desk sometimes gives a fatter sound. Hope this helps.

A Behringer desk is also fine. Cheaper, but probably not of the same build-quality. My 24-channel Behringer sounds wonderful and has everything I need in a mixer. Lots of people sell their analog desks now, in favor of the new digital ones.
