Hello, I have a dbx 160 vu that distorts whenever you have something running through it. The threshold , compression ration, and output knobs have no effect on anything. I can turn the output to zero and still hear the signal so loud and distorted. Please help this is annoying me badly

Wondering if anyone can tell me if these heads are good. Been recording on it for a year now, haven’t noticed anything bad. Just wondering if visually someone can see something. There is a reflection of the splicing block in one of the heads just in case anyone asks lol.
