Hey everyone,

I play in a new band called Empty Fix, that plays a blend of hard rock and alternative metal, with a focus on melodic yet powerful arrangements and dynamic shifts. We're gearing up to release our debut album later this year, and I'm super excited to share one of our tracks, "The Tide," with you all for the "mix this" challenge!

Attached to this post, you'll find a ZIP file containing 20 raw WAV files for "The Tide." These are completely clean – no effects, no compression, just the unprocessed recorded material ready for you to work your magic. I've also included an MP3 of our final mix of the song as a reference, so you can hear how it'll appear on the album.

I can't wait to hear what you come up with! Have fun and good luck with your mixes!

This just for S**ts and giggles - The Vocals need work - the singtalk parts should be more expressive - guitars are cool - drums need work - harder sound - I might replace them if I do another mix.

Thanks for asking! Please go ahead and share the project. I'd be really interested in getting a link to that other forum myself; I'm always on the lookout for new tracks to practice mixing with.

That's the way i found a couple of days ago this forum, searching for something to mix.

I shared your song here https://www.hispasonic.com/foros/mezcla-metal-alternativo-empty-fix-the-tide/570693#post4935983

The main , where people share the songs to mix https://www.hispasonic.com/foros/taller-mezcla-mastering/f125

It's in spanish, but mostly of us speak english. That will be not a problem

Thanks a lot for the chance to mix your music!!!

So I did another Mix - let me know what you think.
Nice one! I'm really digging the spacious quality of the sound; it creates a great atmosphere. I did notice something with the vocals though. It seems like one of the vocal tracks isn't quite in sync. Could that be it?"

I put echo on the vocal and automated it - I put it in thirds - I will do a mix with it turned down/

tried to register on that forum, but I keep getting error messages. It's a pity because while I can read the posts, I can't actually post myself. This is a bit annoying since I did a mix for a song that was shared there, and now I can't even comment to add my mix :(

Here is an alternative mix - vocals without echo - louder drums - Guitars a little bit under - and Bass Forward a bit more. Tell Me what you think.

Thats not a bad mix - but the guitars are distorted - and there is a weird phasing thing on the vocals.
Thank you but i think my mix is not so fine like i want. The time i dedicated should be enough to get better results. But sometimes there is mix when to be happy with my mix takes some days or a week at least, doing another projects or just nothing before to listen the mix again and give the last push, fixing the things i dont like.

Guitars are distorted, very crunchies, intentionally. This style of music is unknow for me, and i wanted to do this without references and see what are coming out, practicing the creativity.

How did you get them Distorted? It’s kind of weird because they are distorted already - I do think the panning vocals are pretty neat.

The distortion is applied to the guitar with a guitar pedal plugin, to the utmost exaggeration. But more seriously, running the guitar through a pedal in the mix is a common technique, albeit much more subtly than I've done.

So here is my final mix - I incorporated some of @S.O.L vocal panning - tripped around with the lead vocal - adjusted/Automated the Reverb Levels used Helix Native on the DI Bass - and boosted the drums as much as I could - it should be noted I don’t like this mix as much as my other one.
