UA Lion anyone?

I swear by the UAOXBOX for recording electric guitars. It has changed my life in that regard. I heard that Edge used one for the sphere U2 shows?
He used three models - the Audio Ruby, Woodrow and Dream pedals - which emulated his three amps he uses most - a 55 Fender 5E3 Deluxe Tweed - a Vox AC30 and AC30 Top Boost (The Audio Ruby does both amps) and a ‘65 Fender Deluxe Reverb - he bought the whole line - but the three are the ones he used for the Sphere - but he also used some Fractal Axe-Fx units for amp emulations and FX - I was hard pressed to tell what was what in the Show - by the time it reached us in the Audience - there was little chance to telling what was what.

Quick update. Have been enjoying the Lion thoroughly. Top notch piece of gear. Inspiring - it's that good.

Not sure if my phone getting an OS update pushed to it this weekend has anything to do with it - but all of the sudden I cannot get my phone to pair with the Lion. Followed the UA troubleshooting steps explicitly. Repeatedly. No luck. Now it's to the point of being frustrated. I've read that others have complained (a lot) about these types of issues.

I'll report back if/when there's a solution - or I learn what the issue is/was. Because I know there's dozens of you waiting on pins and needles.

Hmmm... Glad the Lion is meeting/exceeding expectations.
Have you tried uninstalling the app, rebooting the handset, and re-installing?

Brother - I have tried *everything*. Interfacing with UA support now. There will either be a solution - or it's going back.

Ok. Problem solved. :thumbs up:

Of course - it was something on my end - on my phone - that was not set correctly.... my "Location" feature.

I use my phone to run my contracting business. Tons of features are convenient and used every day. And, like most of us, especially the map functionality for traveling from one location to the next. So the "Location" feature on my phone is always on - it gets used constantly.

I assume that when the OS update was pushed to my phone this weekend - perhaps that feature was somehow set to off - or I otherwise inadvertently had turned it off. I didn't work for 4 days straight because of the labor day weekend and then it rained all day here yesterday. Otherwise I would have discovered this earlier. I'm out working this morning and loaded in my next location and google maps asks for my location before it would give me directions. Boom - hit me right there. Voila.

In my defense - when the UA software asks permission to use my device location (it is mandatory to give permission for the Bluetooth to work with this app) - I would click "ok" every time and it would move past that without alerting me that it still didn't truly have my location because it was turned off in my settings. I just didn't know - and didn't think to check because I always have it on.

There you have it - sure enough - operator error. Lesson learned. Back to Plexi bliss.... and all is well in the world. Well , my world anyway. That concludes this saga. Thanks for tuning in.:D

Whew... glad that was it!
Wonder why it needs location? Maybe additional downloads vary by country?

They assure you on their website this location request is strictly for Bluetooth functionality and that UA does not track your location. Yeah ok. You just sell my data to someone who does. Whatever - I gave up giving a fuck about that shit along time ago.

But yeah.... back in business. And a little wiser.:D Like I've said in the political discussions - I look for where I get it wrong so I can be better for it. No lie. :thumbs up:

I'd just get a ToneX and then download all of the UA Amps I'd want. ;)

I hear you.

I borrowed/tried the ToneX earlier this year and was very impressed. Super powerful - and super versatile. I still may pick one up at some point. But after owning the Strymon Iridium for several years and loving the Model 1959 Super Lead setting that it offers - I wasn't as impressed with the Marshall sounds I sampled in the ToneX. Don't get me wrong - at this level of tech - I'm splitting hairs to say one is better than the other. But the Iridium just has a richness and realness to it that I wasn't quite feeling when I tried the ToneX out for a week.

But the UA Lion does that ONE thing and just kills it. Next level, imo. It feels like the amp is in the next room, f'n cranked. Those weird ghost notes and the killer tube compression and sustain.... the sustain is just awesome from the Lion. It does variations on that one thing - and does it amazingly.

I'm hoping to get some time coming up and putting together a little sample of different settings from the Lion.

Cool. My experience with the ToneX is that if you LOVE that UA Lion sound, and Capture it with ToneX. It sounds exactly the same, which is why I'd just Capture the UA Lion and use a ToneX since it can do that exact sound as well as any other Amp sound you'd want. ;)
