There's not really an amp or modeler forum here - but I was wondering if anyone here has one of these. I've been seriously considering one as the reviews are strong - and someone brought it up again on another forum. I'm just buried in work right now and didn't intend on pulling the trigger until the fall.

I've got an *excellent* Super Lead modeler in the Strymon Iridium - but I've heard so many good things about UA's modeler tech. Just wondering if anyone has any feedback.

The price is right too. Meaning well within my budget.

I do love good classic guitar tone(s).

I'm not much of a pedal guy but you can't really go wrong with UA.
I have a Tube Screamer and a volume pedal that I plug that into my Blues Deluxe. That's all the tone I need.
If you got the dough, I say go.

Looks like a fun piece of gear.
As you know I went Kemper, but there are so many great devices now, it's a killer time to be a guitar player!

Super busy now - Ima take one closer look this weekend and make a decision. Definitely leaning that way.

Well.... twist my arm, why don'tchya.:D

It's done. Yay. Haven't bought a proper toy in a while. Now I have two Plexi's. :D Looking forward to it. If I remember to - I'll post a review once I get a few minutes with it.:guitar:

Awesome!
Can't wait to hear what you think about it!
What are you using to amplify it?

Just like the Iridium - it'll be fed directly into my Tascam mixer and then sent to my first generation Mackie HR824 monitors.

It can also be put between the guitar and my ultra clean Bassman Reissue. :thumbs up:

Edited to add - that I don't think this thing is really meant to be fed into a guitar amp. Meaning I don't think that it is designed for that purpose.

Excellent. The Mackies will give the truest representation I'm sure, but it'll be cool to hear about both.

The US Lion is the same idea - just based on a different tone.

You are going to get their idea of the Classic well loved Marshall tones - I think they are fine - but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get a UA Lion - I can do the same with my Helix.

Thanks for the input sir. :thumbs up: I'm a sucker for those classic tones from the records that I grew up with. Love this new technology that more or less nails those tones - and does it at bedroom volumes. And fwiw - I am so not going out of my way. :-) I've got $350 burning a hole in my pocket, ordered that from my phone sitting on the couch, and expect it to be delivered to my front porch tomorrow or Saturday.

I owned a vintage plexi when I was in my early twenties. That thing would melt the fillings in your teeth. Fun tube amp - but entirely unrealistic for most applications.

Now we can actually enjoy those sounds in the home studio setting. So cool!!

I swear by the UAOXBOX for recording electric guitars. It has changed my life in that regard. I heard that Edge used one for the sphere U2 shows?

Do you have a Kemper? How do you like it?
Yup, one at home and one at the studio.
I absolutely love it. Got tired of lugging a 60lb rig around for gigs and a few buddies were rockin' one, so I bit the bullet around 2017 or so.
Still have 3 tube amps, but they don't get played anymore. I use a Kemper Kabinet as well, and it's a treat.
At practice I just use the Kabinet as my sole sound source. Fills the room very well and sounds awesome. Gigs I use it with or without Main out going to FOH.
Last gig was both Kabinet for me and main out to FOH, and the sound guy was tickled pink with the sound. No mics, no problem...
Not going back...

So Dave - do you dial in your own tones from scratch with the Kemper - or maybe use downloaded starting points of stuff you like and tweak to your satisfaction?

The latter.
Lately I've been using some Fender profiles quite a bit.
Clean = 67 Pro Reverb
Light crunch = 63 Vibroverb
Crunchy = 57 Deluxe

These all using a Celestion G12 Creamback speaker setting. But each profile can have it's own speaker type.
The visual interface (PC or mobile) makes it easy to try different drives and/or effects before/after the amp stack.
That said, there is a veritable cornucopia of tones to explore. Something for everyone/anyone.
For live/gigs the critical thing is the output device, and the Kabinet gives me back that pant flap I was missing a bit on stage with the plethora of output devices I've tried.

The OXBOX just emulates cabinets and mics. You still use your head with it and it maintains the sound of the amp and pedals while giving two phase aligned outs. It also has a built in plate, 1176, EQ and delay .
