Hello!

I’m at odds right now. So I’m trying to record a mixtape onto a cassette using songs from YouTube. I’ve laid all the songs on ableton and mixed them.

The way I’ve tried to record the audio onto cassette is I’ve connected one of the tracks to my audio interface headphone jack. I can hear audio through the 4 track but no audio is reading on the track when armed so I can’t record anything,

I figure this must be an obvious solution which I am not seeing. Please enlighten me because I am lost and confused.

Gear
Tape deck Yamaha MT4X
Interface M-Audio 192 | 6
DAW Ableton Live

- connect two cables from interface out to in on 4-track
- pan left channel on 4-track hard left and right hard right
- arm the tracks you want to use (example 1 and 2)
- hit record

Do I plug in the cables on interface instrument inputs?

Thanks so much for your response.

Looking at the buttons just above your faders, from the left they seem to be Out Out In In.
This suggests you are playing back from tape on channels 3 and 4. That jack at the top is probably your signal from the interface phones going into ch3.
I think you need to make that button on ch3 in the Out position.

For this procedure, treat your DAW and interface as a single unit. The monitor outs on the interface will carry the DAW mix. Plug those outs to your tape's input.

You are an absolute legend that fixed it! I knew it was something simple! Thank you so much. You are a lifesaver.
