Audio Interface Setup

Hi guys, I'm Craig. Thanks for checking out my question.

So I'm trying to record singing covers on youtube. I'm using the equipment listed below. I've plugged it all in and selected the right audio sources in audacity. But when I press record it doesn't pick up any sound. Maybe it's something obvious or simple that I'm missing? Let me know if I need to give any more information.

I would really appreciate any help with this because I really want to record my singing and no one I know can help. Thanks so much for reading.

Equipment
Audio Interface: Behringer Xenyx Q502USB
Mic: SubZero SZM-11S
Headphones: RP-HT225
Software: Audacity
 
Do the LED meters indicate a signal form the mic on the mixer?
Can you hear the mic in the headphones?
Have you pushed the "USB to Mix" button?
Can you hear a YT track in the cans?
Have you checked Windows Sounds setup and made sure the USB Audio is turned on? Can be set from 0 (no level) to 100% (far to high) wants to be between 5 and 10%. No 'boost'.

You do know you need to click on the meters in Audacity to get them to indicate?

I don't have a Q502 to test but I do have an A&H zed 10 USB and can post some screen grabs if you like?

That mic has a switch. Is it in the "on" position?

Ha! Ha! We've all been there!

I setup my ZED10 for a USB recording in Audacity and found it was relentlessly mono! I had to dive quite deeply into Sounds Settings to get it to "16 bit 44.1kHz 2 channels". That is in Windows 10. AND every time you change one setting or parameter the meters in Audacity stop indicating. Get used to clicking on them for each adjustment.

Perhaps best to scribble a picture of how you have everything connected - or some detailed explanation - just so we can check the basics are correct before we go further into cleverness and software. If you plug headphones into the mixer, I take it you can hear the mic? Lets start simple
