Okay so lately my band finally has gotten around to recording songs, so we recorded our first and well two things weren't up to par. Vocals. Drums. SO to cut to the chase, to record vocals we used a EV Cobalt C09 mic and to record the drums we used the same mic as an overhead (dumb I know but we are on a serious budget) and some crappy off brand mic in the drum head. NOT a good sound. So I finally saved some more cash and did some research and while I can find great mics for drums or vocals, I haven't gotten a good answer for BOTH. So some details I know/need help with.
-Audio-Technica AT2035 Large Diaphragm Studio Condenser Microphone was what I was looking at mainly, but it seems to only have people who use it for Vocals.
-My band is a Pop-Punk band, where the drums really need a good sound.
-My EV cobalt C09 is dynamic, which I can use in the drum head.
-I think I need a Large Diaphragm Condenser Mic (I think)
-It has to be able to get very clear distinct vocals, as well as capturing drums
-My price range max is 150$
-I don't have a preamp, BUT i use a Zoom R16 recorder, which has 2 outputs with phantom power.
PLEASE PLEASE Help me i really need advice, recordings, or anything!

I have an AT2035, I don't use it that much as I have better mics around, but I have used it for vocal and it gave pretty good results, especially for the price. There is no reason it could not be used for a drum overhead, a friend of mine uses 2 x AT2020 (the cheaper version that does not have a pad) as drum overheads on a large PA system and likes them a lot, again especially for the low price. Don't be afraid to also stick it in front of a guitar cab.

Consider a pair of small diaphragm condensers... Rode M3's go for around 60 quid. Great on acoustic guitar and percussion pretty good on vocals and has a pad so I see no reason why it wouldn't be good for guitar cabs or as drum overheads... I've borrowed a couple from work several times and found them very adaptable. I'll deffo be picking one up at some point.

Thanks! So do you think the AT2035 can handle a bass cab then too if you say it can handle a guitar cab? @witzendoz
