No, because the amplifier is in one of the speakers. Take the cable where is has one RCA plug and then splits into two. The single side will go into the speaker input. Then get 2, 1/4 to RCA cable to plug into your 1/2 outputs from Steinberg. Then you will be set for now.

Doesn't any of this stuff come with instructions any more?

Maybe they still make those porta studio thingies with like, 'six buttons max?

instructions are for people that dont know what they're doing.

so heres what i did.

Stop at the connection shown below your pinky in the top photo this last post. From there you just need two rca to 1/4" adapters. One to 1/L and one to 2/R on the Steinberg.

You have one of those third from left on post 20 (last pic).

On what I see and to Jimmy's point, the RCA's need to go into hole 1 and 2. If you look it reads 1/L and 2/R. Stereo is actually two channels.

You will need to learn/understand this later on when you start panning mono channels.

You are just about ready to begin your journey. :D

Am I the only one that noticed he is plugging into the left line output of the interface and splitting it to the two speakers? With this adapter config, he needs to plug into the headphone output of the interface.

Problem there is his adapter is a dual rca to rca with 1/4" TS (mono) adapter...

Yup, get the cables that C7sus linked.

Then start reading everything. If you can't figure out a mono adaptor from a stereo cable, you've got a long ways to go before you are at the mixing stage.

Now Farview Enertprises..

Am I the only noticed the size of the tech support bill you guys are racking him up with here.
Yikes.
This kid's gonna freak.

To late.. But Geak Squad "in house" at $50 and hr would a been cheaper.

:p

:D

thanx all of you guys for the input. so heres where im at. i went and got the adaptors i need ...cant really afford that badass cable right now and this was just easier to find.

so what now for the input configuration?

Left and right interface outputs are unbalanced. Ie. pair of TS or rca cables. (Two conductors each - tip and sleeve)

Speaker input is one stereo 3.5mm jack. (Three conductors - tip, ring and sleeve)

The tip of output left needs to get to the tip of 3.5mm jack.
The tip of output right needs to get to the ring of 3.5mm jack.
The sleeve of both output jacks needs to get to the sleeve of 3.5mm jack.

Basically, you need a 3.5mm stereo male to 2 x 1/4 mono male adapter. They're pretty common.

That will get left and right un-amplified signals to your speakers.
You'll find the amplifier for both speakers is built into the right speaker, hence the "to left speaker" output.
You need to connect that to the left speaker as normal.
It is an amplified output. You can't bypass it.

Make sense?

ok so lets just say i have the input setup correctly. what about output config? i have 3 options

1234.webp
123.webp

Where are these settings? In your recording software?

It makes sense to keep the outputs grouped in stereo pairs. If it's a DAW option, that'll ensure that your master is a stereo output with one fader for L+R.

If there's the same option for inputs, I'd leave it at multiple mono.

yea those settings are in ableton (my software). i just have all the the boxes yellow...screw it.
