Hey all, i'm brand new here. I have included a small clip so you can hear my voice. I know its very raw and my microphone is just a headset. =/
I would really like feedback regarding my voice and what style would suit my voice?
I've always been far to shy to sing infront of people.
Please be brutally honest with me as i think i can handle it from behind a laptop screen. =)

I think your voice is awesome. I'd love to hear it properly recorded with some music. Your vibrato sounds nice and natural. Your notes don't sound shallow but nice and strong.

As someone who has the same problem as you (terrified of singing in front of others) trust me when I tell you that nerves are the only thing you need to be worried about.. Not your voice.

I am sure there are some things you could do to improve and maybe one of the more experienced people here can chime in.

Thank you for the feedback polarity. I really appreciate it

My nerves always get the better of me. Would love to learn how to overcome that. If someone catches me singing i immediately feel like I've been caught out, cue deer in headlights look. Confidence Issue I guess.

I'm not completely sure why but i seem to have trouble recoring with music? I guess thats a learning curve too?

I will give it a shot though sometime soon.

Thank you again. =)

Nice voice and very good modulations. I think you will sound awesome with a nice mic and with all the effects.

Get a simple dynamic mic (shure), audio interface, and you are good to go. You can ask question in the newbie section about recording.

What do you mean by trouble recording? Singing with music or recording?

Thanks for the feedback anoopbal,

I haven't gotten much into recording but I am definitely finding this site extremely helpful! Can't believe I have only just come across it.

Yes, I seem to have trouble singing with music. Just never sounds anywhere near ok.

Though I'm sure with all the helpful threads on here i can figure it out =)

What have you trouble with specifically? like singing in pitch or tempo? or it just don't sound?

Let me see if I can help.

Actually you may have just hit the nail on the head. It may be a tempo thing I think. I seem to want to sing things at the speed that i feel comfortable. I don't play an instrument so i can't record a version of a song at the tempo that suits me?

I also feel more comfortable and in control if its just me and my voice. In saying that its probably because it's what I'm used to.

Recently tried singing over a karaoke track and recording. Noticed a fair bit of pitchieness and a little bit of rushing in stages to keep up. Just didn't feel natural at all.

Is there something you would recommend to overcome this issue or just practice, practice...eventually become more comfortable?

Thank you again.

What many people don't understand is most karaokes are slightly different tempo and even a different pitch than the actual song. Usually you can sing better when you get a sense of tempo and pitch. So with a track you should be able to sing better. I tried singing a lot and just couldn't get it right, until i figure out this. So i think that is exactly your problem.

So figure out the original tempo and the tempo of the karaoke. In ableton, you can change the tempo to make it faster and slower. Also, you can change the pitch. Check it and see if it makes a difference.

What DAW do you use?
