Do I need ASIO4ALL?

I am using a TASCAM US-122 interface. When I select the US-122 driver to record in Adobe Audition 3, it's listed as "ASIO US-122 (16 bit) and "ASIO US-122 (24 Bit.) Does this mean I don't need ASIO4ALL since the interface already has an ASIO driver?

What's the difference? What does ASIO4ALL actually do? I read the latest version has 32/64 bit compatibility, does that mean I should upgrade to it?

Very lost here. Thanks for your help!

ASIO4All is a wrapper that 'fakes' a ASIO driver with internal audio cards. In other words it fakes software into thinking what is being used is worthy or trustworthy.

Would you trust a dood you don't know to hang out with your girlfriend while you make poor decisions and feed your daughter Taco Bell? lol! Horrible analogy there but the answer is the same. NO.

If your device has a true ASIO driver (as yours does) then that is way better to use.

:)

Welcome to the forum man! It has been a long day. Sorry for the sarcasm. :D

Haha no problem! Perfect colorful answer and very prompt response. I appreciate it. Expect a lot more dumb questions in the coming days. I've got lots of them! :D

It's all good man! :)

Take a look at the 'Stickies' at the top of this forum. Many of the typical first questions are answered there. Hell, any of them in any forum on this site does that.

Many are around to help out if those do not answer a specific question.

Like why do you eat at Taco Bell? Ever?!?

lol
