If you could work with a big-time producer, who would it be and why?

Phil Spector so we could drink jew wine and kill people.

Who in their right mind would want to drink Jew wine? I could only get one cup of manischewitz down on passover. Its just a step above robotussin.

I would want to work with Albini. He has a pretty unique approach to things and seems like someone who would be down to do a lot of experimentation and an all around interesting guy. Also he worked on some of my favorite albums (Surfer Rosa, In Utero).

And I'm not trying to stop you from beating on your sham perspective ....are you trying to convince people? ;)
Nope. I just answered the question and didn't try to argue or defend my position. That's you.

Did you ever have a bad experience with a producer....?
I seem to recall you once saying somthing about a bad experience back in your early band days.
I've already explained, in great detail, why I feel the way I do about "producers". I'm not getting into this stupid shit with you again. I couldn't care less if anyone else understands or agrees with me or not.

Well, we can agree with you without understanding you.

So you are just here to troll and pontificate? Over 23,00 posts in 8 years, that's over 9 posts a day, every day for 8 god damn years. You can't possibly be doing much recording of value while spending so much time looking for people to offend on purpose with gusto. And yet you could not care less if anyone understands or agrees with you? Seems like you just like to have your rage on display so everyone will know how angry you are. Does anybody here value what "Gregoise Le Bloodshit" has to say about anything at all?

I didn't think so.

Yes. Pretty much everyone around here respects his opinion because he has shown that he can put out some of the best home recordings anyone has ever put out. Go listen for yourself if you don't believe that.

Dude. He expressed an opinion. The reason he "doesn't care" is because 1) He doesn't care. Why would that bother you so much? And 2) He already explained his position in detail. He doesn't feel like he needs to re-explain it to every new person that comes along.

Before you start spewing about something you know nothing about, why don't you go listen to his music. He produces some of the best music of anyone on here. You could probably learn LOTS from Greg about recording. Why don't you post up some of your masterpieces. We'll see if they come anywhere close to the quality of Greg's recordings.

Are you going to post some of your music?

I didn't think so.

Maybe kids coming up that they are trying to break, but for the other 99% of us, I think we pretty much know what sound we want.

I think this hints into something more. Most of us here at HR have our own ideas about what we want to do, how to go about it, and the results we want. We're a bunch of DIY'ers here and ain't no one else gonna help us. But there are so many kids out there just starting out who don't know what they're getting into. They'll have a few good ideas for a song and some talent and they need someone to show them what to do.

While I'll wouldn't benefit from a producer, I wouldn't mind sitting in the producers chair to help some people out.

... I wouldn't mind sitting in the producers chair to help some people out.

I had the opportunity to sorta’ be in the producers chair a bunch of times...mainly because I was running all the studio gear, and there were lots of instances where a question was asked or the production wasn't going right and people had blank stares....so suggestions needed to be made, but it wasn't about taking over the creative direction....it was really about helping move along.
...and that's why I look at producers a lot differently than the extreme negative views some have.

I mean...who the heck here wouldn't be able to gain any knowledge from say....a Steve Albini...or a George Martin....???
For the majority who only have recorded in their back room home studio....I would think these kind of guys would have plenty to offer.

I also would totally not agree to a producer just taking full control of my productions, and I don't think most of them would try to do that. It's a misconception that all producers tell the artists what to do without any consideration for the artists’ creative vision.

Got to go with Bob Ezrin.

I don't want to work with a producer. I'm to into producing to let someone else do it.

Allow me to express my opinion. I find very little of what greg has to say to be any real value. If I was a dude just starting out then possibly. He's so god damn rude to everyone all the time, so condescending and lacking in humility that I just get tired of seeing his stupid posts everywhere. It seems ridiculous that he would post that much all the time in posts about every possible subject matter. but hey, whatever, I only come to this site once a month maybe. I guess I'll get over it.

I'll post up some of my stuff next time I come by the site. You guys can rip me a new one as much as you'd like. I'm pretty confident that you wont.

I don't know about that. You sound pretty hysterical. Pretending you're not isn't very convincing. I find it weird that you supposedly only come here once a month, yet are so bothered to the point of whining about someone based on mere internet posts.

Plus, in your first post, you asked a rhetorical question and then gave yourself the wrong answer. That's pretty hard to do. :laughings:

Yeah, sure you will.

See you in a month. :)
