Has anyone here covered their ceiling in fabric?

I have been out of town for the last week and just got back to this. I appreciate you helping moving it forward (not hi jacking at all). I think I have figured out how I am going to do it. I will run some wood strips across the ceiling joist in a uniform pattern. I will staple the cloth to the wood mounted strips, and then with some finish nails, I will attach some thin wood moulding over the fabric for a finished look. It should look nice.
Best of luck! I'm looking forward to seeing it. (I know we will!)

I am in the middle of covering it now, it is a BEAST!!! lol Very tough job! Update on the isolation from upstairs. 6" of 703 cut off a stereo I had upstairs (couldn't hear it, but that is a far cry from instruments. But, I could hear it through the duct work. Once I get drums set back up, I will of course find out what is up. Will definitely give you updates on it.

Fabric on the walls and egg carton foam on the ceiling might do a better job of eradicating alot of the room's nastiness.

Ummmm...could you please enlighten us to the acoustic qualities of "fabric" when applied to walls?

Egg cartons again  egg cartons are for eggs.

It'll certainly make it easy to burn the place down to claim the insurance...

Quite seriously, if you end up using fabric on the wall or ceiling, please leave enough money to buy some flame retardant treatment--without it, your studio is a firetrap.

You'll probably find what you need at you local theatrical supplies company.

The ceiling is done fellas, it is covered and looks relly good! But, no vid until it is 100%! Lol seriously, the studio is starting to look good! : ) I hope it will be done withinn 3 days.

One thing I did was use 6" roxul between joists covered with vapour barrier (not pretty) then installed a drop ceiling with 2'x4' 2" rigid fiberglass with cloth glued on the room side for asthetics. This worked very very well. I also double wrapped with bubble foil and taped any ductwork. Try to find fabric that is fire retardant and make sure you have some type of cold air return in this room if it is air tight like mine.
This might not be a popular method but it worked great and very cost effective. cheers
