comatose

I'm late to the party, but wanted to throw in in case it mattered. Drums are pretty pronounced, but i kind of like that. Vocals are still having a hard time pushing through. If that is the intent, but seems like the vocals/lyrics (Chorus as well, you might want to group those together and then raise/lower them collectively, just a thought). are good enough to want to hear them. I would notch them up a bit more so they are above the rest of the mix.

I didn't listen any deeper than that as lot of good ears on it already.

Thank for your input. It seems to be kind of split between those who find the vocal levels and/or low vs. those who are ok with it. (kind of like the lead guitar) I can hear all the lyrics fine, but that may just be because I know what I'm listening for...I think that can skew things a bit. I guess I want them to be audible, but not prominent.

I did raise the vocal levels slightly on the 02/03 mix, and lessened the delay effect a little, but I think I might have increased the overdrive for some reason, 'cause now it sounds grittier to me...if I mix it again, I'll take all this into consideration. Thanks.

Hey Pete, listening to them back to back in sections just now I'm struggling to hear a huge amount of difference between the two mixes to be honest. I think those differences that I do hear in the new mix are for the better though, so in my opinion I'd say settle for mix 2.03 and call it a day there.

The changes I hear are that the bass is a little less boomy in spots, the doo doo's are a bit fuller and the drop of the beat and then slowly bringing it back up adds a little more contrast. All good things :)

On a side note, it just struck me that your song titles are generally real downers, with a sense of resignation running through them - comatose, inertia, let 'em sink, defective, the end of the road. The songs themselves certainly don't sound morose, but if I didn't know your music, those titles would throw me off the scent I think ;)

Good song though, I like.

What ever your last mix you had on SC, I thought it was near perfect (I couldn't hear anything). Vocals were sitting in very well, I could full understand the words, not to hot, from me, sounds complete.

Thanks for checking back rob. That's funny, as they sounded totally different on the stereo, but I think a lot of the changes are of the variety where maybe only I would notice because I listened to it over and over. I'm still not sure which mix I prefer, but it may not matter so much since they aren't dramatically different. I'll leave both up for a while and then eventually just take down which ever one I like least.

Funny about the titles...I guess I am generally a glass-half-empty kind of guy. I don't think any of the songs themselves are particularly uplifting, but I don't mean to be a total downer either.

Just to switch things up, the next tune will be called "Happy Fun Time", but it will be about the death of a small puppy.

Great. Thanks DM60. I guess I'm just about ready to move on to something else, except I uh...don't have anything else. Yet.
