Flamingo!
That's only taking me to my stream, not to anything you recorded.
OK, been messing with my amp, ampsims, daw, etc today, & here's a couple clips of some Univibe sounds....One's my DSL-1 > Greenback > '57, & the other is Amplitube 3....which clip is my DSL & which is AT3 should be pretty easy for most of you to tell, right????
There's some 'verb on both (I did my best to make 'em sound as much alike as possible), but no post-eq or processing at all on either track.....This is the rhythm guitar to the "song" I posted a few days ago btw....I was going for a Pink Floyd-ish thing with the Univibe w/reverb, & FWIW, I personally like both sounds myself....
I should have some different clips in a while too.....
Greg: What don't you like about the OCD pedal??? From what I've read, it's a good od pedal....
I'm still looking for a "Plexi in a pedal" myself, & found these:
Weehbo Effekte: PLEXDRIVE (Charvel San Dimas to HIWATT Custom 50 SA212) - YouTube
Weehbo Effekte: JCM Drive - YouTube
Pretty expensive for a pedal ($300 a pop) to me, but if the video(s) give 'em any justice to how they sound, I personally think they're pretty good....
Bob: I looked at the GFS pedals, & the "Brownie" is the one that interests me the most, supposed to be a "plexi in a pedal"....A lot cheaper than the above pedals, but not sure if it's what I'm looking for...Here's a clip by Jack Black (yes, the actor), but to be honest, the sound quality isn't really great, but it still sounds pretty good, & it's $250 cheaper than the Weehbo...
GFS Brownie Classic Distortion Overdrive guitar effects pedal demo with Stratocaster - YouTube
From what I've read on the JOYO pedals, they're pretty close to the pedals they clone/copy, so I may plunk down $50-60 on one of their Plexi-clones (the "Hot Plexi", which is a copy/clone of the Carl Martin plexi pedal) in the next week or so...
You really need to try those od pedals on a completely clean amp, while it won't be anything spectacular, there will be enough of a difference in the sound that you'll notice it right away. When I use my SD-1 (or the shitty od's from the POD, the Tubescreamer emulation is really the only useable one out of about 10-12...there might be another one or two that might be ok, but about all of 'em add weird artifacts when ran into my amps), I think there's a little more clarity using the pedals for the dirt, but it might just be me, but it sounds a little brighter to my ears, especially using the DSL's clean/green channel....
I understand why you're not into those dirt pedals that much though, especially with the JVM, but with the JMP, it'd open up a whole different can of worms I'd think, especially since you have 3 different dirt pedals to choose from...I do think most (if not all) dirt pedals are basically the same though, some may have just a little differnt voicing/tonal range...Just my opinion, I'm probably wrong to be honest though...
CrowsofFritz : I've never tried the DS-1, but I do have the SD-1 (Boss Super OD), & it's a good pedal IMO....I like it to tighten up an already driven amp (my DSL-1 or Egnater Tweaker), or run it into an amp's clean channel can give lots of different tonal variations. I did clip the C6 thingie in my pedal though, which is a high pass filter. With that clipped/snipped, I have to watch how high I set the tone on the pedal, or it can get quite shrill, but all in all, for $50 new, it's a good pedal......
Off topic: I see you're from Abingdon, I live about an hour or so away from there, cool to see someone that's actually pretty close here, as the folks I usually "talk" to are miles & miles away....
if you really want it more floydish it needs to be cleaner. That sound has that tweed kinda clean where there's still some dirt there. But for his rhythm sounds Gilmore was clean more like a pedal steel pristine clean ..... sorta treating the guitar as if it were a Rhodes piano sorta sound .... very clean and swirly...I was going for a Pink Floyd-ish thing with the Univibe w/reverb, & FWIW, I personally like both sounds myself....
Here's the pedal I most want for that sorta sound. Catalinbread RAH - Royal Albert Hall Edition WIIO Demo. Les Paul / Marshall JMP MKII. - YouTubeI'm still looking for a "Plexi in a pedal" myself, & found these:
.
trust me ..... me too .... that's why I don't have a RAH..Kinda expensive though, went to their site & it's $190, but still sounds great....I suppose you get what you pay for, but I'm a cheap fucker....
..
trust me ..... me too .... that's why I don't have a RAH..
And I'm WAY interested in those cheap pedals you found ..... they even look good.
dangnab soundcloud!!!!!!!!!
just search the rolling dingleberries and listen to strange thing
i am working on some new tunes
Since it seems nobody else is gonna guess which is the real amp (which is cool,), the second clip is my DSL-1....But, I re-amped the di from the first clip (which is the rhythm guitar from the "song" I posted a few days ago), using the Univibe pedal from AT3 going into the amp....
That's what I was talking about I think is kinda cool, I can use the stompboxes from the ampsims & run 'em into my amp(s) if I want, & I think it sounds pretty good to be honest. Sounds way better than the shitty emulations from my X3Live, even running guitar > POD X3 > amp, the POD/X3 has a nasty, digital artifact thing when I use it in front of my amp(s), the fx loop is a little better (on the DSL, the Tweaker's loop sounds worse actually), but not much...
The ampsim clip is a Univibe pedal into a Marshall amp & cabs, with a reverb at the end of the chain (I'm guessing it's supposed to be rack stuff in the loop)...
On the DSL clip, I just bypassed everything except the Univibe, & re-amped the track (recording the Univibe'd signal through the amp...basically using AT3 as a stompbox). Then, I put AT3 as an insert, & bypassed everything except the 'verb....Some of the stomps in AT3 are actually good using 'em this way, I did a comparison between my real SD-1 & their emulation, & really couldn't tell much of a difference...Of course, some of the stomps sound like shit this way, but some are more than useable, I think.....
Like I've mentioned, I've got so many options on sounds, it's ridiculous really. I've been thinking about dumbing it down lately, I hardly ever use the X3Live, I basically use it as a "dongle" to run my Line 6 plug-ins in my daw. I could probably sell/trade the X3 for some real pedals that I'd use more (maybe a wah, another od, the time-based stuff I'd probably add in the daw anyway)...Plus, I can run my plug-ins without the X3 connected if I just update my account, I've just been too lazy for one, & the other, there were some issues with the Line 6 plugs (not having to connect your USB device), but AFAIK, they've got that fixed....
