Name's Jack and I have been recording for three years now. Using Cubase 6 elements and Tascam US 1641 24bit interface. Drummer by trade.

Ah... I remember the days. lol! I used pretty much the same setup a few years back. Works well. :)

As my Id says I'm a sound tech. I work with bands mostly and also design and build speakers for some of the larger production companies in my area. Everything from basic bass bins to line array projects. I'm also the cabinet designer and craftsman for a world know High End home audio company. I joined about a year ago and have checked out some of the posts in that time. I got in to recording when one of the bands I work with decided they wanted to produce a live CD before they broke up. I use an alesis HD24 hard drive recorder and mix down on a computer that I had built solely for music production. I've have PT, reason, cubase and samplitude but Reaper is my DAW of choice. I'm mostly self taught and am always looking to learn something new.

New to Cubase7...

Hi. Just call me moondoggie or moon. I'm 55 and I've been playing around with recording equipment since I was a kid. I am, however, totally new to DAWs and with Cubase7 I'm almost completely lost right from the start.

So I'm looking around for help.

Cheers!

You are in the right place to find help with Cubase 7. Just post up in the Cubase forum here. We don't talk down to members like you get at the Steiny forum.

Hello all! I like metal! Ha! And lots of other styles, too. This forum rules!

Finally after years of using this forum for reference and advice, I have finally made a profile, lame, I know, but here I am!

I'm a freelance engineer/producer, and songwriter for the TV/Film industry, based out of Nashville, TN. Go check out my site, comment, like, and ask me anything. I am currently posting video tutorials on how I make my mixes to what they are based from emails I've had over the past few months, so I finally decided to join the video blogging world.

Go check out my site in my signature!

Hello, My name is Mark I love fried chicken and music! This is a very very good site! keep it Rockin!

Hey guys.
New to the forum today. The name's Mark and I'm in Portsmouth, UK
And so to my first question:
What is the best way to connect my PC (using Ableton Live) to my newly-acquired BR-600?
I only have the onboard soundcard fitted in the PC, but I have tried taking a stereo lead from that output to each of the BR600 inputs in turn, but every one gives me very "dirty noise" in the form of a hum/static kinda sound :(

Any help please??

Thanks

Hi, Smarty here!

Hi, I'm Dan. I'll be doing some voiceover work for my company's phone system, and I'd like to learn more about voice recording techniques. I have a mixer, and want to use it with my laptop computer. It runs Windows 7, and I'm using Audacity. I want to connect the mixer to my laptop via USB. Any suggestions?

Another Dan here, completely new to recording. Bought a M-Audio Fast Track with Pro Tools SE because I'm cheap, got a SM57 and a dynamic mic which is floating round the house somewhere to record on. I play violin, guitar and sing. Here is my SoundCloud. soundcloud(.)com/dan-wallace-6

Be excellent to each other, dudes.

Hello Folks

My name's Michael. I play electric bass. My friend Gary and I have played music together for years. He plays pedal steel. We want to do a project where we record some tunes (country) that are traditionally vocal tunes, but instead Gary will play the melody on pedal steel.

10 years or so ago we did record a CD with a vocalist, and it really turned out well. At the time we used a minidisc-based Yamaha recorder. We no longer have that, but we do have good mics and other associated equipment.

I decided that after all these years, a DAW is probably the way to go. I purchased Apple's Logic Pro X. It seems to be an extremely powerful program, but man is it complicated. All we really want to do is record a mix of synthetic drums, simply played, and my electric bass, Gary's acoustic rhythm guitar, synth keyboard, and his pedal steel.

But as I look through the DAWs I have purchased (Ableton Live 9, Logic Pro X, and of course being on a Mac I also have Garage Band) it seems these DAWs are designed really for electronic dance music. I have signed up on Lynda.com and Groove3.com and have taken many of the lessons, but it still seems to me like using these DAWs to do what we want is gross overkill, like swatting flies with grand pianos.

I'd sure appreciate some tips on how to get going. The lessons I have taken lead off into all kinds of electronic music and loops and automatic drummers and stuff, and I am kind of paralyzed by all this stuff.

I should mention a couple other things. Both Gary and I are in our 60s. We are both very very technical (I earn my living doing Linux and Virtualization Support for a major company, and Gary currently works as a machinist but has done lots of computer support in the past. So we are not computer challenged at all.

OK, newbie to the forum, but I've read your posts for years. I finally decided to chime in. I'm a musician, like many/most here/ singer and recording engineer. I prefer working with analog because of my years of experience with it and comfort level.

I hope to hear from you all and learn from you.:thumbs up:

Hello, everybody,
my name is Cliff and I'm in Birmingham, Al. I have had a DAW setup for a number of years but have never really felt like I had it set up for maximum utility, so I am hoping to get some advice and insights here. I am 35 and have played music since I was a child, been in a number of bands over the years in various levels of dedication. :)

I mainly play guitar these days, though I started working musician-hood as a bass player. Happy to be here!
